When Aber and I started practicing a few Elliott Smith songs in 2021 we had no way of knowing how this would all work out. We had a lot of questions and concerns, mainly, should we even be doing this? Elliott Smith is so sacred and beloved, especially in Portland, and we wondered how this project would be received by the public and the fans. All we can say is that we started Rose Parade out of a deep love, obsession, and reverence for this incredible songwriter who left us far too soon, and we were hoping to share that love with you all, in the city that was significant to him. Thank you for all the gigs over the years, for singing along with us at shows, for sharing memories of Elliott from those who knew him or saw him perform live. This music does not belong to us, but we are doing our best to keep it alive forever. Here’s to more years of playing for you around town, our next show is on November 22nd at @thesnugpdx 💔

Well I took a little break from these here social meeds but my thirst for shameless self-promotion has me crawling back! I’ve got some gigs this week and I want to see you! Just you, specifically, not all the other people seeing this post.

Just finished a little Seattle/Spokane run with John Craigie and the band and tomorrow and Monday we’re playing out at Topaz Farm on Sauvie island. I think tomorrow is sold out but there are still some tickets for Monday! It’s so damn beautiful out there.

Then Wednesday I’m playing with both Rose Parade and Wilclone (at the same show!) at the Lollipop Shoppe doing the music of Elliott Smith and Wilco, respectively. We’re hoping to make this our biggest Rose Parade gig of the summer so if you were thinking of coming to one of our shows, make it this one! Hoagie opens at 9, Rose Parade at 9:30 sharp.

I love you all and I’m sorry I haven’t been responding to your insta messages, I was on a much needed detox but now I’m back to lining the pockets of Zuck and the aligned fascist tech bros so message away!

Wrapping up the keep it warm tour with the John Craigie band in Ashland tonight. What a run.

Just can’t say enough about this band. What a generous, hilarious, wholesome, supportive, reliable, and insanely talented crew.

Next up after this is Rose Parade at Alberta Street Pub in Portland on December 21, and then a Shook Twins run in January! Hope y’all have some damn festive holidays ♥️🤘🎄

So much fun with Shookies in Sandpoint this last weekend at the annual thanksgiving show. Now we’re back to keeping it warm! Tonight and tomorrow night at Revolution Hall with the John Craigie band, then in Eugene on Saturday and wrapping up the whole run in Ashland Sunday.

Hot sauce batch #5!
Bellingham, Washington

Golden cayenne hot sauce with roasted bell pepper, golden beets, ginger, lemon, and maple syrup

We’re getting deep into the #keepitwarm tour and the sauces are getting experimental! This one was extra spicy 🥵

The garlic and beets were grown here in Washington, and the hot peppers are from my backyard 🌶️🧄🍠

A few pics from the first week of keep it warm tour. Such a rad crew on this one ❤️🤘

Tonight we’re playing at the Lobero theater in Santa Barbara, the oldest continuously operating theater in California! W.C. Fields, Charlie Chaplain, and Marcel Marceau have all performed here. And tomorrow we’re off to the Fillmore!

Sure am glad to be playing music in these dark times. Come out and commiserate with me!

Hot sauce batches #3 and #4!
San Clemente, California

Batch #3
Jerk sauce with Scotch Bonnets, red onion, brown sugar, and all the spices. So ridiculously flavorful 🤤

Batch #4
Pineapple hot sauce with aji limón peppers and sweet onion and lemon. Getting to use all this fresh tropical fruit is such a treat for a temperate dude like me 🥭🍍🌶️

Hot sauce batch #2
Pioneertown, California

Aji Limón hot sauce with sweet pepper, prickly pear fruit, mango, and lemon

The prickly pear fruits were growing right outside our green room at @pappyandharriets last night; the aji limóns and sweet peppers are from my backyard

I’m on the road with the John Craigie band right now, making batches of hot sauce in different towns with regional ingredients. DM me if you’ve got some inspiration for my next sauce!
