Fear often comes from the unknown. For the longest time, I was terrified of snakes—until this moment. This Bamboo Pit Viper from Amboli, Western Ghats, was the first wild snake I got close to, and it changed everything. It wasn’t about courage but about understanding—giving space, respecting its habitat, and appreciating its beauty.

A huge thanks to @vipul_ramanuj for guiding me through this journey. This vibrant predator, with its mesmerizing colors and poised elegance, taught me that fear can transform into awe when we choose to learn.

When the stars came closer

This was one of those frames where everything had to come together.

The Malabar gliding frog, the leaf, the tiny holes in it and the light behind it all had to line up properly.

The light passing through the holes created small starbursts. It also made a soft bright line around the edge of the leaf, while the frog stayed almost like a shadow.

For a moment, it felt as if the frog had climbed so high that the stars were now below it.

What I love about this image is that it is not only about the frog. It is also about light, timing, patience and noticing the small details around us.

Nature often creates beautiful scenes quietly. We just need to slow down and see them.

Our deserts, and the wildlife that survives in them, are incredibly unique.

At first glance, a desert may seem barren, almost like a wasteland with little to offer. But in reality, it supports an astonishing diversity of flora and fauna. The herpetofauna, in particular, is incredibly fascinating. It is remarkable to see how these species have adapted to such a harsh environment, where water is scarce and conditions can be extreme.

The Desert National Park itself is a landscape of sand dunes, rocky terrain, sparse grass, and scrubland. It is beautiful, but also challenging. And when you start observing the wildlife that lives here, from the toad-headed agama and saw-scalled vipers to fat-tailed scorpions, geckos, and awl headed snakes, the desert begins to feel completely different.

The closer you look, the more fascinating it becomes. You start noticing the small details, the adaptations, and the quiet ways in which life survives here. And somewhere along the way, you begin to fall in love with these often-overlooked creatures.

Just sharing a few observations from this remarkable landscape.

Light slips between the layers.

I visit Bharatpur almost every month. Sometimes more. And every single time, the place fights back differently. One morning you get perfect light but the birds stay distant. Next visit, the darters are hunting close but the fog is so thick you can't see past ten meters. Then there's the background problem. The light is golden, the bird is cooperating, but the backdrop is cluttered with branches or tourists or both.

Winter adds another layer of chaos. The fog can be your best friend or your worst enemy. It softens backgrounds beautifully but kills your shutter speed. Shadows fall hard in the low winter sun, turning half your frame into darkness while the other half burns out.

You're constantly choosing what to sacrifice. Foreground sharpness or background separation. Detail or mood. The bird's behavior or the composition. These moments are the ones where things aligned. Where the light, the fog and my position all cooperated for once.

A small glimpse into the world of rhesus macaques.

At first, they may look familiar to us because we often see them around human spaces. But the more time you spend observing them quietly, the more you realise how layered their lives are.

In one frame, a group sits close together in the winter cold, holding on to each other for warmth. The elders groom the younger ones, and the newborns stay wrapped inside the safety of the troop.

In another, a mother feeds her baby while staying completely alert. Her body is relaxed enough to let the little one nurse, but her eyes are watching everything around her. That quiet balance of care and caution says so much.

Then there is the curious baby, looking straight at the camera while the mother remains busy grooming. A tiny moment, but full of personality.

These images are not just about monkeys.

They are about protection, bonding, grooming, learning, curiosity, and the slow upbringing of a young life within a social family.

Rhesus macaques are often overlooked because they are common. But common does not mean ordinary.

Sometimes, the most beautiful wildlife stories are happening right in front of us. We just need to slow down and notice.

Light… it simplifies. it reveals. it glows. it softens. it guides.
from silhouette to hidden eye to golden moment to misty vastness to forest breaking open. light's been my teacher through all of it.

As a learner, i'm just here to witness what happens when the two meet. and honestly? i can't think of anything i'd rather spend my life doing.

in how it seeps into hollow trees and catches the eye of an owl who's been watching longer than i've been alive.

in the way it edges a branch and makes a peacock become silhouette, pure essence, nothing extra.

in forest paths where darkness parts and something—someone—crosses through beams that feel holy.

in the golden glow wrapping around a jackal mid-stride, turning an ordinary moment into something you feel in your chest.

in mist rising off wetlands while sambar stands still, antlers catching grey light like it's holding the layers of the sky and forest.

Giraffes on the cloud

This wasn’t fog or low light.
It was full daylight.

What you see here came from choosing a foreground,
waiting, and imagining the frame before pressing the shutter.

The camera didn’t create this mood. I did, by visualising what I wanted to show, and letting the scene fall into place. The Masai Mara just offered the moment.
