This project has gradually become an inseparable part of my life over the past several years. It began in 2013, in Brennen, and carries a deeply personal responsibility—the telling of a place that stands very close to my own life. Anyone who has lived in Dharmadam knows that many people there—beedi workers, tailors, workers from the Palayad Industrial Estate, homemakers, and many others—were once leading artists in the global circus world. Some came from other countries and eventually became part of Thalassery. This documentary follows the lives of these circus artists from Thalassery, a community with a rich and complex history. In 2020, we decided to develop the project as a feature-length documentary. Shooting began in 2022, across two schedules. The cinematography was by Steffi. Footage from that phase was edited by @_aravindjayan with sound design by @achuth_sahadevan. A 15-minute cut from this material received the Hyundai Art for Hope Grant that year. The project later slowed due to my time at FTII and the challenges of raising the required budget. A substantial portion of the shoot still remains. Despite this, we continue to believe the film will be completed in the coming months. This poster was designed by sreejith_ps_87 . @ashitha_venugopal was my producer during the first two schedules. From research to sound recording, @nimeshh_s took on multiple roles. Above all, my comrades from Dharmadam and Pinarayi—including Anil ettan, @p_m__akhil and @simil_joy__brennen —supported the project in every possible way. Further updates will be shared here. :-) by @abhiinavc
