Did I get an after shot with it all covered in chocolate? No.

But it was delicious, and I'm so impressed with the power of this motor.

Probably since my prior kitchen blender was a 12yo 500ml nutribullet 😎

That smoked a bit sometimes...

My job this week is to do a bit of an inventory of our freezers and sort out what cuts of meats we have. Super important (but something I always put off) every now and again to do a bit of a freezer rotation so you don't loose anything to the depths 😂

I got told this weekend that the marry me chicken recipe on cookido is absolutely delicious, so we'll see what our wee critics (read critters) think of it!

I'll let you know what we think! by @abi.brookmiller

A little Mother’s Day chaos 😅 ... and a heads-up if you’ve been Thermo-curious.

Yesterday we had a bit of fun passing the Bonus Bundle around — kitchen to pantry, garden to couch — because honestly? We’ll take any excuse for a laugh (and slightly questionable prop skills).

But real talk:
The TM6 Bonus Bundle is only around until June 2nd — or until stock runs out, whichever comes first.
And at the rate people are jumping on it… it’s gonna move.

Wholefoods, made from scratch, with way less fuss and way more flow.

That’s why I love this thing — it fits the way I live. It’s not about gadgets; it’s about getting back to simple, good food, with time left over for the stuff that actually matters.

If you’re keen to see what all the fuss is about, flick me a message.

Book a free cooking demo, grab the Bonus Bundle while it’s hot — or just come roast our kitchen choreography. No pressure, just good kai and good chat.

Come and make yoghurt with me 🪄

I'm in the stage of life where I need ease, but I'm also so far down a rabbit hole of 'I like to know what is in our food' that I have a milk cow (Daisy, she's fantastic) and we make our yoghurt from scratch.

But ease is KEY! I have three young kids. It MUST be easy. And Holy moly does this Wizz bang machine make it easier. I don't have an instant pot, we've gone for something that is more of a one stop shop. The thermie. She's great!

I set it to get to 75°c with a low stir.

And then I forget about it.

Game changer

I go and do bath time, I go and tidy the kitchen, I go and make croutons, I go and cuddle my baby.

When I make it on the stove top I have to be THERE with reminders set on my phone so I don't get sidetracked by kids or dishes or animals.

As soon as it gets to 75deg, it'll hold it there for a wee bit and then just switch off. No scalded milk, no boiled over pot.

Easy. I love it

Get in touch if you want to know more. There are a few great ways to get one of these guys on your bench if you're also after ease. by @abi.brookmiller

I actually love the idea of these monthly photo dumps.

Feb was a huge month! With the rest of this year shaping up to be a big year, too 😅

Mum was down for several weeks (lifesaver) with Dad joining us about halfway through the month. Mum took on the roll of chief child entertainer, snack provider, chef and laundry do-er, gardner, cleaner, puppy carer. Dad took on the roll of chief bathroom renovator, builder, landscaper, kid entertainer. The list goes on.

When I write it like that I'm not sure what I did, to be honest!

Other things that Feb involved. In time order, not order of importance! 😂

🌻Lots of preserving garden things
🌻Zig had her pups!
🌻They're very cute and tiny
🌻Bill got stuck into letter writing
🌻The driveway for the new place was created along with the shed pad. The digger was here for three days and the kids were in heaven!
🌻More puppy love
🌻Bill and Frey helped Drampa build a retaining wall. She was a pretty big job
🌻We welcomed wee Ida into the Whānau at home, in the water one cozy Saturday morning 🥰
🌻We're renovating at the same time. Cause why not. When else would you choose to renovate?
🌻We love Ida

Feb also marks the start of Dunstan taking six months paternity leave from work for us to all hangout and honestly, we are loving it so far. The first two weeks have been fantastic and it's such a neat opportunity 🥰 Bill and Freya normally shadow him most places during the weekends and now they get to do that for six months! by @abi.brookmiller

We have Zig Pups!
They are six of the cutest, rolliest, most chilled out spaniel pups we've ever met. (Only a slight bias on the cutest part)

Ziggy is a blue roan Working Cocker Spaniel and the dad (Max) is a liver and white Springer Spaniel - definitely thought there might be a bit more variation in colours but all six are black and white with a few of them showing signs of turning more roan-coloured like their māmā

We have three girls (Trudy, Freckle and Betty) and three boys (Batman, Roly and Trig) and we already know it's going to be really hard to see them go to their new homes in about five weeks time!! by @abi.brookmiller

Who knew a pillow could make you so happy?!

Not me 😂 Until just recently.

I've had pretty consistently broken sleep for about four and a half years now... Not only from the kids themselves but because I donated my pillow to Bill and then the next one to Freya a couple of years later as they graduated and reached the milestone of requiring a pillow.
And then I was finally left with the lumpiest and bumpiest cruddy one (sorry to our guests that ever used that one. I'm horrified and it's now in the cat bed in the shed!)

I've had my @loraandflok pillow for a couple of months now so I feel like I've given it a good test run. And holy HECK! Can I just say, I'm a convert. Woollen pillows. Also, Nic is amazing at helping you sort out what you might need for your Whānau ❤️

🐑 Natural
🐑 Sustainable
🐑 Local (southland NZ)
🐑 Antimicrobial
🐑 Like sleeping on a cloud
🐑 Supportive
🐑 Customisable
🐑 Naturally temperature regulating

I love that you can take the fill out or put more in and totally customise it to how thick (or in Dunstan's case, pancake flat) you like your pillow.

Not an ad or anything, I just love wool! And think everyone should have the chance to love their pillows as much as I do 😂

🍅 Sunburnt tomatoes! 🍅

Our poor plants in the glass house are getting absolutely blasted by this Central Otago sunshine *drought* weather we're having and so instead of buying a shade cloth or something similar, Dunstan had the bright idea to paint the window panes with a whitewash 🤓

It's already created so much shade for them without compromising on the amount of light the glasshouse as a whole is getting.

Hopefully things perk up a wee bit in here over the next couple of days 🤞 by @abi.brookmiller

Holy moly! Dehydrators! Amazing things 😍

We've been borrowing a dehydrator for a week (or two..) and we have used it so much! Drying herbs, drying flowers, fruit leather.

I'm definitely going to have to invest in one, going off how much this one has been run in the short time we've had it.

Today was fruit leather and I asked for recipe recommendations in my stories a few days ago. Most came back saying they used an apple base (for natural sweetness I assume) but I didn't have any so this was a classic Abi recipe.
Fling things in and hope for the best. It was designed as a forgotten fruits, freezer emptier.

No measurements but the ingredients list is below:

🍑 Frozen apricots
🍑 Frozen zucchini zoodles
🍑 Frozen gooseberries
🍑 Bone broth (hahahah they'll never know)
🍑Vanilla
🍑Apple cider vinegar
🍑 Sugar to taste

Stew everything in a pot, add in the sugar to taste, whiz it all together (I used a nutribullet only because I don't have an emersion stick thing)
And dehydrate.

If you don't have a dehydrator you can use your oven on the lowest setting (60deg for over night). My oven is odd and doesn't go low enough for this trick...

I've saved the rest for on breakfasts because it was damn tasty. If the little fingers stealing tastes isn't enough of a clue 😍

We still have more frozen apricots so I'm planning an apricot and berry one next time I think. It'll still have veggies and probably bone broth in it too 😂

The girls are back laying!!! 🐔🐣

Woohoo! It's been a loooong few months without our eggs but we're back and better than ever.

Also, went to collect the eggs just now and they're frozen! Like frozen so much that the shells have split! I've never seen anything like it 🤯

So Bill and I undertook a science experiment and even received a DOUBLE YOLKER! Also a first for our wee coop.

I'm not a massive chicken fan but I'm pretty proud of our girls for a moment 😂 by @abi.brookmiller

Anyone else?

Our house is tiiiiiny (54m²) and we definitely have too much stuff for the space 😂

I like to think of it as being 'Well played in'

One of my favourite features of our little house living with kids is the big siding doors at one end of our house that basically stay open all summer and the indoor/outdoor living is 👌 The kids are free range and it's exactly the kind of childhood we envisioned for our babes!

I read an instro post on @homesteadmamas by Katelyn from @hastiehenfarm the other week and she mentioned her kids were mildly feral. A term I hadn't thought I'd ever use to describe my children.
She described it as meaning Independent. When we're outside, they're outside. When we're working, they're exploring. Our kids are proudly, mildly feral 😆

I love that this is what they know. That they get the chance to explore the outdoors so thoroughly. And because we enjoy doing life this way, the house can stay a tip 🤷🏼‍♀️ taken in Lauder, New Zealand by @abi.brookmiller
