Day 1 of #cop28

🎬This is Abigael’s story

The Climate Dispatches series

@Abigael Kima is a Kenyan producer and host of the @halihewapodcast

She advocates for real stories and
experiences of African communities being impacted negatively by climate change to be used as reference points for decision-making.

Her story is our story. We are all vulnerable to the climate crisis. To build a fairer future for us all, we need to make the biggest polluters pay for the climate crisis they’ve created.

Kenya is hosting the first Inaugural Africa Climate Summit this week. A country that has experienced severe impacts of climate change, especially the Northern part of Kenya.

With an agenda of Green Growth and Climate Finance, my expectation is that the decisions covered in the Nairobi Declaration will reflect on the needs of the African Continent putting communities at the centre of the conversation because they know exactly where the shoe pinches!

The world lowkey seems like it’s falling apart some times…, and as young people, it’s easy to feel powerless. But if there’s anything I’ve learned from recent protests in France ans historic uprisings all over the world including Kenya, it’s that young people have a lot more power than it seems!
For those who saw the battle as too mighty to face but we must remember our strength is in our numbers, as @abigaelkima said “We have the skills, the energy, the numbers” to make the difference in the climate movement!

We call it waste. But for someone else, it could be a livelihood, an opportunity, or a source of income.

That’s one of the conversations I’m looking forward to at this year’s Sustainable Water & Waste Management Policy Forum. What happens when we stop asking, How do we get rid of this? and start asking, What can we create from it?

I’ll be at the forum exploring these conversations for @halihewapodcast, and I’m especially curious about the people and ideas rethinking how we see water, waste and the circular economy. 🎙️♻️

Access to safe water shouldn’t depend on where you live. 💧

This October, I’ll be at the Kenya Sustainable Water & Waste Management Policy Forum, exploring a question that feels simple, but really isn’t: what does it actually take to make safe water accessible to everyone?

I’ll also be recording a special episode of @halihewapodcast from the forum, bringing together voices from policymakers and practitioners, and most importantly, the communities living these realities every day.

The activity is supported through the SCEJU project, co-funded by the European Union.

Can’t make it to Nairobi? You can join the forum virtually too. Just scan the QR code on the poster to register.

Another client who took the leap with coaching and never looked back.

Been working with @abigaelkima for the last 7 months.

Getting stronger inside the gym and intentionally eating for nutrition.

Her whole understanding of training/nutrition has leveled up massively.

Thank you @abigaelkima for allowing me to walk you through this journey.

Drop a ❤️ for her on the comment section.

These results are not typical and your results will vary based on on your effort and consistency.
