Dear Tom, I genuinely cannot put into words how proud I am of you. Watching you go through Marine BMT, knowing how hard it was and everything you had to push through, makes seeing you graduate that much more special. You worked your ass off to get to this point, and you seriously deserve every bit of recognition for it. You’ve grown so much through this experience, and I hope you realize just how strong and capable you are. I’m so lucky to be able to call you one of my best friends, and I’ll always be in your corner no matter where life takes you. You did what you said you were going to do, you conquered BMT, and now you’re officially a Marine. I hope you take a second to look back at everything you overcame and be proud of yourself, because I know I couldn’t be more proud of you. Dear Airman Berkner, I just wanted to tell you how incredibly proud I am of you. Watching you make it through Basic Military Training and then conquer tech school has been amazing. I know none of it was easy, you had to push through long days, exhausting training, being away from home, and moments where you probably wanted to quit, but you never did. You stayed determined, kept fighting, and came out stronger than ever. That takes a kind of strength that not everyone has, and I hope you realize just how incredible that is. You have accomplished something that so many people only dream of doing, and you’ve earned every bit of respect that comes with wearing that Air Force uniform. I look up to you more than you probably know, and I’m so thankful to have a big brother like you. I can’t wait to have you home for these two weeks, to hear all your stories, laugh together, and make some memories before you head back. Dear Airman Berkner,
I am writing this with tears of joy in my eyes. I am absolutely excited with pride knowing that you are finally an official Airman in the United States Air Force!
Watching you transform over the last seven and a half weeks has been an experience I will never forget. I know how tough it was, but you pushed through, stayed focused, and proved how strong and capable you are. You left as my brother, but you are returning a true Airman.
