CELEBRATING THE LEGACY.

60 years of Notting Hill Carnival. Six decades of culture, community, resistance, creativity and celebration.

This year, ABIR’s Celebration Time was about more than touching d’ road. It was our opportunity to celebrate the legacy and pay respect to the pioneers who helped create and shape the Carnival we are privileged to enjoy today.

To the pioneers who paved the way, we say THANK YOU.

To every masquerader who brought the ABIR Colour Cloud to life, our incredible team, DJs, MCs and everyone behind the scenes — THANK YOU.

And a special thank you to all of our sponsors and partners who supported the journey and helped us deliver the ABIR Sunday experience.

The best way to honour a legacy is to keep the culture alive. Here’s to the past, the present and the generations still to come.

This time last week, we were on the road… paint, powder, music, friends, family and pure Carnival energy. ❤️🇹🇹

But this year meant a little more.

60 years of Notting Hill Carnival.

And sometimes, amongst all the music, dancing and celebration, it’s easy to forget why Carnival matters.

Its roots go back to a very different Britain. Following the racial tensions of the 1950s.

Six decades later, those streets are filled with mas, steelpan, calypso, soca, sound systems, food, colour and people from every background celebrating together.

I’m proud that so much of the culture I grew up loving has helped shape something that now belongs to the fabric of London.

We celebrate because generations before us created a space to be seen, heard and proud of who they were.

And 60 years later… we’re still on the road.

Still playing mas.
Still getting dutty.
Still celebrating culture.
Still bringing people together.

That’s Carnival. That’s All Ah We

Happy 60th Notting Hill Carnival.

Mixing Paint With @abirmas !

What year did the first Notting Hill Carnival take place on the streets of Notting Hill?

DID YOU KNOW?

Notting Hill Carnival was born out of racial tension and resistance. After the racist murder of Antiguan man Kelso Cochrane in 1959, activist Claudia Jones organised a Caribbean Carnival in London to bring the community together.

Years later, in 1966, Carnival took to the streets of Notting Hill.

🎭🔥 DEX & LEE x MASQ BY NAITRAM — NHC 2026! 🔥🎭

Allyuh, what an unforgettable first year on the road for Dex & Lee at Notting Hill Carnival! 🇬🇧🎉

We had the absolute pleasure of playing Mas with @masqbynaitram, and from start to finish, the entire experience was amazing! The vibes from the VIP truck were unmatched, the hospitality was exceptional, and the Masq team made sure every masquerader was well looked after throughout the day. 🙌🏾

A special shout-out must go to the security team, who did an incredible job keeping the band secure and ensuring the road remained exclusively for Masq masqueraders—with no stormers disrupting the experience! 👏🏾🛡️

From the music and beautiful costumes to the energy, care and organisation behind the scenes, everything came together to make our first time on the road truly special.

Thank you, @masqbynaitram, for welcoming Dex & Lee into the Masq family. It was a genuine pleasure to represent, capture the experience through our lens and share this incredible moment with everyone on the road.

Our first NHC with Masq—but definitely not our last! ❤️🔥

Alongside @masqbynaitram and @abirmas , we brought you the sounds and scenes from the 60th edition of Europe’s biggest street party - the legendary Notting Hill Carnival.

We broadcast LIVE from atop a float as it moved through the streets of West London - a Notting Hill Carnival first! - with DJs spinning from the upper deck, and fully costumed mas crew in tow on the ground.

Thank you for joining us on the road and live on the air 💙 by @abirmas
