☀️ AUGUST 20 ☀️

I was gifted the world

When @rebeccahls and I were little we had an imaginary brother. He was mischievous and idk some sort of childhood fusion between Peter Pan and Beatrix Potter. He had curly blonde hair and was brave.

Then @benstevens_real was conceived and my parents had the absolute insane idea to take us to the sonogram for his biological sex determination. Rebeccah and I said explicitly that we knew our brother was coming. Ben waved in sonogram.

Every time I get mad at religion and conflate it with faith, I am reminded of my siblings. Ben was the final link: brave, masculine, loyal, everything summer and everything solar. As his polarity in family line and personality, we help each other a lot (it’s the best).

This evening I opened up our childhood book The Tale of Benjamin Bunny and audibly laughed. Rebeccah and I wanted him to be named Peter bc we loved Peter Rabbit, Peter Pan and Peter from Narnia.

Benjamin was truly the right choice.

We moved to a two bedroom that is approx three times the size of my last one. We’re SLOWLY investing in long term furniture. This is our first home as a family.

Danny’s dad flew in from South America today. Jet-lagged, my father in law asked for a drill before a drink or food.

My favorite wedding gifts: Danny’s childhood trees are now tables in our living room or in decorative pieces throughout the apt. His dad made us tables and jewelry boxes and cheese boards from wood in their backyard. He flew the wood out and shipped the tools for his arrival. Truly papa Bermudez.

Several of you received “The Stevens Family Christmas Card” (2022) where my family described Daniel as a new addition.

@perfildeldaniel and I decided to do the civil wedding ceremony with my immediate family in October 2022. We are waiting to share our vows (and party) with the larger community soon! The next few weeks are going to go by so quickly.
