This year’s theme, “From Policy to Practice: Powering Maritime Excellence,” highlights the importance of turning global maritime regulations into practice.

At Aboa Mare, this is something we see every day. Regulations and standards are an important part of the maritime industry, but it is the people working at sea and ashore who put them into practice.

We had the pleasure of welcoming a group from the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency (@vaylafi) to Aboa Mare today.

During the visit, the group got to learn more about Aboa Mare, our maritime training and education, and how simulation is used to train maritime professionals.

And of course, no visit to Aboa Mare is complete without some time on the bridge! The group got to experience our simulators first-hand, navigating through different scenarios and weather conditions – from day to night and calm waters to rough seas.

Visits like these are a great opportunity to exchange knowledge and perspectives across different areas of transport, while giving us the chance to showcase our training facilities and what maritime training looks like in practice.

Thank you to the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency for the visit and the interesting discussions. We hope you enjoyed your time at sea, even if only in the simulator. 🌊

This week, Aboa Mare participated in Port Days 2026 in Vaasa, a two-day event bringing together over 200 actors and partners from the Finnish port industry.

The event started with inspiring company visits to Wärtsilä's Sustainable Technology Hub and the Port of Vaasa. The programme then continued aboard Aurora Botnia, one of the world's greenest vessels operated by Wasaline. The seminar programme featured presentations and panel discussions on topics such as the electrification and automation of ports.

The second day was spent ashore, with discussions focusing on the development of ports as business ecosystems and the future of green and sustainable ports. The day ended with a breakout session about digital security in port operations.

A big thank you to the organizers Finnish Ports Association and Finnish Port Operators Association, and all participants for the insightful discussions, inspiring presentations and valuable networking opportunities. We are proud to be part of a maritime community that continues to drive innovation, sustainability, and collaboration across the industry.
