The renovation’s on pause and the property’s occupied now, so you won’t see build updates here anymore, but I’ll be sharing some of what I learned along the way about the Ghana property market. Starting with one question: long-term rent or Airbnb — which one actually makes more money? 🇬🇭 Swipe for the real breakdown. Which side are you on? 👇

GHC10k for bespoke floor-to-ceiling curtains and viole from @maxcurtaindecor , and worth every penny 👌🏾

Never underestimate the impact of well-chosen curtains. They don’t just finish a space, they elevate it, soften it, and bring everything together effortlessly. taken in Accra, Ghana by @abodeonabla

Working with artisans shouldn’t be difficult, and it’s very hard to find artisans with good communication skills, attention to detail, and patience. We don’t gate keep over here, so if you’re interested in using the carpenter, send us a message!

The kitchen transformation was, and it’s not far from completion👌🏾

The kitchen transformation has quickly become our favourite part of the home and we’re almost at the finish line.

What do you think this renovation cost?

As you may have noticed, the vision for this property centres around an Afro-modern design concept. We’ve focused on blending natural textures with a neutral colour palette to create a space that feels warm, inviting, and refined, while still subtly celebrating African influence throughout the interior. taken in Accra, Ghana by @abodeonabla

Don’t be fooled by the prices of things on AliExpress, you often end up paying double in shipping costs. There are lots of good artisans in Ghana, you just have to find them, and we pride ourselves in patronising local artisans and products where possible.

How do you think the artisan did?

After the fiasco with the tiles, I decided to hire a project manager to deal with all things on the ground. It’s less headache and allows you to be more hands off when the construction is going on.

Who’s at fault for the clearing of debris?

The downstairs lounge transformation was not easy!

When collecting invoices, it’s always better to have an invoice that splits up the costs as it allows you to see exactly where your money is going and can help you know if you are being overcharged for a certain material.

Do you think 18,000GHC is a reasonable amount for the work done?

Stay tuned for part 2! 🏠 taken in Accra, Ghana by @abodeonabla
