📣 Big news! We’re delighted to welcome Jennifer Reiter as our new Chair of Trustees. 🎉

Jennifer brings expertise in public health commissioning, strategic leadership and a real passion for sexual and reproductive health. She’s currently Associate Director for Sexual Health at the London Sexual Health Programme, and has been busting abortion stigma for a long time.

She advised on commissioning abortion services for the first time in Northern Ireland, worked as a researcher on the SACHA study, and served on the board of Abortion Support Network.

💛 We also want to say a huge thank you to Laura Russell, our Chair since 2023, who is standing down. Laura steered us through the creation of our first strategy and, more recently, our transition from a Trust to a CIO. We’re so grateful for the time, expertise and passion she gave, and we wish her all the very best.

“I thought that part of my life was over.”

It’s something people say when an unexpected pregnancy turns up in their 40s or 50s. Perimenopause can last for years, periods become unpredictable, and pregnancy is still possible. Yet midlife is rarely part of the conversation about abortion.

So let’s say it plainly:
💙 You can still get pregnant during perimenopause
💙 Abortion care is for you, at any age
💙 You don’t owe anyone an explanation

Menopause can also stir up memories. For some people, an abortion from years ago comes back to mind at this stage of life, bringing relief, grief, peace or all of it at once. None of it means you made the wrong choice. If you want to talk it through, our Talkline is free, confidential and judgement-free. Link in bio.

This Menopause Awareness Month, we’re making space for the conversations that don’t always make it in.

Stigma often hides behind false health claims. The idea that abortion causes breast cancer has been used to scare people for years, but it isn’t supported by the evidence.

Nobody should have to make decisions about their body under a cloud of misinformation, or feel judged for asking questions.

💬 Want to talk it through? Our talkline is open to everyone, judgement-free - link in bio 💞

We’re not a medical service. For breast health concerns, speak to your GP or visit nhs.uk or Breast Cancer Now.

Deciding isn't a race against a deadline you can't see. UK law gives you up to 24 weeks in most cases, and you don't have to work through it alone.

Our free Talkline is a confidential, judgement-free space to talk it out, by phone or webchat, whether you're deciding, have already had an abortion, or just need to process it (link in bio).

Pro-choice, pro-voice, we're always in your corner. 💗

Getting to the appointment can be the hardest part 💙

Before you ever step into an abortion appointment, there’s the remembering, the booking, the rebooking, the instructions you’re meant to take in, the medication schedule, the time off work or childcare to arrange, and the system with seventeen steps and no map 🗺️

For people with ADHD, executive functioning differences can make every one of those steps harder, and when time matters, a missed call or a forgotten form can feel huge. The same is true across sexual and reproductive healthcare, from contraception and STI tests to screening and pregnancy care.

Missing a step isn’t a moral failing. And no one should be made to feel shame for needing more support to access abortion care. The answer is accessibility: clearer instructions, reminders, flexibility, and care that meets people where they are 💛

Having or supporting someone going through an abortion? A little kindness goes a long way 💛

Never underestimate the power of a kind word, a cup of tea, and someone who simply sits with you without judgement. Whether it’s a friend, a partner, or the voice on the end of a Talkline call, small comforts can make a big difference on the day and in the days after.

☕ Make yourself a cup of tea
💬 Reach out to someone who will listen
🫶 Be gentle with yourself
