NASARAWA STATE CLIMATE ACTION SUMMIT KICKS OFF TOMORROW,OCTOBER 7, 2026.
The Summit opens at the Nasarawa Investment & Development Agency (NASIDA) Conference Hall, Lafia,
Under the Theme: Bringing the Conversation Home: Because Change Happens Locally.
“Nasarawa’s Climate Future: From Policy to People, Solutions and Investment.”
This landmark is a turning point, moving us from global pledges to people-centered, local solutions,focusing on climate adaptation, environmental safeguards, gender inclusion, and community resilience to ensure no one is left behind.
Going beyond conversations on international platforms,Nasarawa is operationalizing global policies at the grassroots to build resilience from the ground up,building on State reforms as The Nasarawa State Policy on Climate Change (NASPOCC) 2026,a comprehensive strategic framework to tackle climate change, which aims to mainstream climate action, create a Climate Change Agency, and establish an Advisory Committee.
This ongoing efforts , includes a tree planting campaign to mitigate climate change impact and protect communities from environmental hazards.
A Vision which reflects the unwavering commitment of His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule and the proactive leadership of Hon. Princess Margaret Itake Elayo Commissioner for Environment, Solid Minerals & Mining, driving sustainable green investments and safeguarding Nasarawa's rich natural resources.
The summit sets the path to long-term sustainability, protecting our farmers, creating green jobs, attracting climate finance, and positioning our state as a national leader in sub-national climate resilience.

BEHIND EVERY CLIMATE METRIC IS A HUMAN STORY!
As stakeholders gathered to validate a multi-million dollar concept note, a sobering shadow of the lives already lost to climate insecurity hung over the nation.
The tragic loss of approximately 42 young Nigerians who were driven to find survival at an unregulated, dangerous mining site is a harsh reminder of our current reality, constantly forcing the vulnerable populace into desperate, unsustainable livelihoods. Our grief moved us swiftly from mere adaptation policy to bankable, localized milestones.
I served a strategic Nation effort as Lead Consultant alongside the Department of Climate Change (DCC), Federal Ministry of Environment’s, we advanced the development of Nigeria's Adaptation Fund Concept Note: “Strengthening Ecosystem-Based Adaptation and Disaster Risk Reduction for Climate Resilience in the Guinea Savannah of Nigeria.
On September 17, 2026,we convened a critical Experts' Peer Review & Validation Workshop in Abuja, in collaboration with the NAP Global Network.A process Cordinated by Dr. Iniobong Abiola-Awe (Director, DCC) and Dr. Salihu A. Usman (Permanent Secretary, FMEnv), the concept note underwent rigorous institutional scrutiny to ensure absolute compliance with global benchmarks like the UNFCCC Paris Agreement (Article 7) and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Acknowledging the compounding Climate Pressures our Country Faces and its spilling consequences on traditional livelihoods collapse with communities paying the price in human lives, scaling up this proposed project will restore degraded ecosystems to sustain viable, green, and safe livelihoods.
We are bounded therefore to the truth that climate expertise is not just about understanding the data; it is about structuring the precise, bankable mechanisms required to safeguard human dignity and protect vulnerable lives.

PROSPERITY IS POSSIBLE!
Being elected or appointed to a leadership position is a call to provide your people with access. Leaders must ensure their community has information on available opportunities and evolving policies, while opening doors for networking to connect people to people.Access to resources does not mean giving away your personal salary. Instead, it means attracting, influencing, and positioning your people where resources naturally flow. A leader is not called to build you from zero; they are called to elevate what you have already built.We all possess talent, skill, and purpose. Leadership simply lifts us to the next floor so we can be seen and heard.However, prosperity is only possible through partnership. Our responsibility as citizens is to equip ourselves for access. We must fill our minds with knowledge, our hands with skill, our character with integrity, and our vision with discipline. When leadership opens the door of access, you must be ready to walk through it. An unprepared person in a room of opportunity will still leave poor by @abrahamsalamatu

I AM A WOMAN!!!
Today I am acknowledging with respect and admiration, every woman who is stepping out to contest in political race. Their courage alone is VICTORY!
I agree that many of these brilliant women might not make it to the top of the ballot, this will be in no way for lack of Capacity or opportunity.
I am using my voice to cry out, When God chooses the kings to lead us after the secondary elections, WOMEN SHOULD BE ON THE PRIORITY LIST FOR political offices, parastatals, boards , national and international leadership roles.
Don’t choose by party, religion or ethnicity alone.
Choose by strength to thrive.
Consider all women. Women who can deliver, who build and protect communities.
When women lead, Nations win.
