I’m not gonna lie to you. I was hesitant to eat at this laundromat. 😂

But after experiencing the magic that is @blackgirlkimchi , I will absolutely be back and so should you.

Chef makes her own kimchi in-house, and that fermented goodness brings all the funky, tangy flavor while also being a source of beneficial bacteria that can support gut health.

Then she takes it somewhere I was NOT expecting: Jamaican kimchi fried rice, oxtail kimchi fried rice, jerk chicken nachos… the menu is wild in the best way.

The portions are generous, the flavors make sense, and this is one of those places that feels very much if you know, you know.

Did you know that one of New Haven’s hotels was once listed in the Green Book, helping Black travelers find welcoming accommodations during segregation? 📖🏨

Welcome back to Miss New Haven, where we’re uncovering the stories every New Havener should know! ❤️

📍 Today we’re exploring the historic Hotel Duncan, now known as Graduate by Hilton on Chapel Street!

This building has more than 130 years of history, and some of its secrets are still hiding in plain sight! 👀

🔑 1894: The building’s early history traces back to the Majestic, and you can still find the name carved into the walls and original apartment keys!

📖 1958: I discovered an old guest book filled with signatures from decades ago!

✊🏾 1963–1964: Hotel Duncan was one of just SIX New Haven hotels listed in the Green Book, an important resource for Black Americans traveling during segregation.

🍸 1757: Beneath the hotel is Old Heidelberg, a historic tavern tradition dating back centuries! From mysterious inscriptions to messages carved into wooden tables, this place is filled with stories.

🏨 2019: The building reopened as Graduate New Haven, later joining the Hilton family.

☕ Today, you can grab coffee at Poindexter, relax in the beautiful lobby, and even use an old-fashioned phone booth to call Sally’s for some New Haven apizza! 🍕

The more I explore New Haven, the more I realize how much history is hiding right in front of us.

Do NOT call Crust Issues trying to make a Supper Club reservation. 😂 Pick up your phone and DM them.

They drop the menu, date, and time every week, and if you see one you want? Move fast.

This place has so much character. The food is ridiculous, the staff is having an actual good time, and somehow a supper club inside a pizzeria just makes perfect sense.

It may look like a side-chick parking situation, but honestly? It’s giving main-chick energy. 😭

Eight courses, unlimited drinks, and one of the most fun dinner experiences you'll have 😍

New Haven, how much do you REALLY know about East Rock? ⛰️👀

Hey, it’s Miss New Haven! 👋🏾 I’m on a mission to uncover the history, hidden gems, and stories every New Havener should know!

📍 First stop: East Rock Park!

Did you know this massive rock formation dates back approximately 200 MILLION years?! 🤯

I decided to hike to the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Monument, and let’s just say I was NOT prepared for what I found along the way! 😂

🪨 Rock stacks called cairns, traditionally used to mark trails.

🥾 The famous Giant Steps, built by Italian stonemasons in the 1800s, who clearly had no concern for my cardiovascular endurance!

🔒 Love locks overlooking the city. How romantic is that?!

🏛️ The Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Monument, dedicated in 1887 to honor New Haven residents who died in four American wars.

🚣🏾‍♀️ And at the bottom? Access to the Mill River, where you can go kayaking! Looks like we just found our next adventure!

I’ve spent years exploring New Haven, and one thing I know for sure is that the more you learn about this city, the more reasons you find to love it. ❤️

@chefkwill brought The Proppa Suppa to @theanchorspa for an intimate dinner featuring selections inspired by his cookbook, and every course was a full 5 forks from me. 🍴🍴🍴🍴🍴

The menu using spices from @burlapandbarrel:
Likkle Ting — Jamaican pumpkin soup
Warm Ting — mackerel rundown with toasted hardo bread
Cold Ting — chayote & apple salad with ginger vinaigrette and fresh herbs
Main Ting — jerk duck breast with sorrel gastrique, long bean, and white yam succotash
Sweet Ting — guava cheesecake with ginger snap crust and @unclewaithleys and @tentoonerum ginger glaze

The food was incredible, but honestly, the people at the table made the night even better. It felt intimate, intentional, and completely different from a typical night out.

And Chef Kwame has already agreed to come back, now we just have to let him know New Haven wants another one.

New Haven Night Market was WILD this year. Five streets packed with food, people, music, and way too much to try in one night.

So obviously I had to eat, talk, and shop my way through it. 😂

People love to say Connecticut is boring, and maybe some parts are… but New Haven? Absolutely not.

@signofthewhale got a serious glow-up. 👀

I’d been here before, so I wasn’t sure what to expect coming back, but the revamped space, the DJ, the crafted mocktails, and that massive Whale Board made this feel like a completely different brunch experience.

And those breakfast empanadas? Yeah… they had me dancing. 😂

We’re giving Sign of the Whale 4 out of 5 Giant Forks 🍴🍴🍴🍴

This one is absolutely worth the trip! Especially if you like brunch with a real vibe.

As for that fifth fork? We need to come back and check out dinner service before we can hand that one over. 👀

Connecticut R&B lovers, this one was for us. 🎶🍂

@winedownct Fall Function brought the kind of energy I want from an R&B party the songs everybody knows, full-volume sing-alongs, dancing, good people and that moment when the whole room becomes the group chat.

If your ideal night out includes R&B throwbacks, current favorites and screaming the lyrics with your friends, put Wind Down CT on your radar.

This was at @cita_park in New Haven CT. Wine down pulled up with drinks from @blackgirlswine @jackdaniels_us @athleticbrewing @newenglandbrewing and others.

The food was amazing @29marklectbpt, @archiemooresnh, @coolrunningsllc_ct and fried dough!

This is how New Haven does Pride. 🌈✨

Joy, liberation, dancing in the streets, drag, live music, local food, queer-owned vendors and a whole lot of community.

New Haven Pride brought Downtown together for an afternoon celebrating LGBTQ+ people exactly as they are — loudly, colorfully and with plenty of love. 🏳️‍🌈💕

And the celebration doesn’t stop when the street festival ends. New Haven Pride continues with afterparties and events throughout the city.

I was not prepared for what they had inside Grand Central Market.

MetroCard cookies, $900 caviar, gluten-free pastries, fresh truffles, rare buffalo cheese, spicy salmon sushi, gourmet pasta sauce… this is way more than a place to grab a snack before your train.
