My my Teddy Wy- how are you 7 months today!!
I feel like I am finally hitting my stride, it is so so fun to be your mama. God knew how much I needed you; the self sacrifice and sanctification of motherhood is truly remarkable. I am a completely different person yet still all me. It is so beautiful to grow with you. by @absoutside

My postpartum ✨ surrounded and supported in love.
My mom came and stayed with us for the birth and the week after; helping clean, cook, taking early morning baby shifts so Bryce and I could sleep, and everything in-between. Having her there for my birth was so so special. I was asked if I would be hiring a doula and after stating my intention to have my mom be at the birth as my ‘doula’ a few midwives questioned if that was a good idea. Clearly they’d never met my mom, she was exactly what I needed and more.

My sweet mother-in-law was quick with meals, baby snuggles, running errands, and all the extra things we didn’t anticipate. I was so honored to be held close by our loved ones during this sacred time.
My sister came out at the end of July with her 8 month old baby and it was so sweet to have cousins Eleanor and Theodore together. Eleanor was so precious with her constant smiles and chatter and made me realize just how much we’ll have to baby proof as she was crawling around pulling everything within reach off shelves and playing with it. My sister here was such a blessing and helped grocery shop, clean, prep meals, etc etc.

We held a special ceremony for my placenta burial a few days after the birth- Bryce dug the hole and I picked flowers to place under it. My mom read A Time for Everything from Ecclesiastes and we honored my baby’s first mother- thanking it for its work.

This slow time at the yurt was very special. Theo’s first days and months were soaked in sunlight and fresh mountain air surrounded by towering pines. We sat in the hanging chair and laid in the hammock sleeping, reading, feeding, sometimes crying. Taking time to adjust to motherhood and my reborn self. Both of us learning and figuring it out together. 🤍 by @absoutside
