It’s a party where a variety of members of the community come together and share for 7 minutes on WHATEVER (song, presentation, Rant, performance) as long as it fits within the theme. . Hey all! On FRIDAY JULY 18th at 8pm. 474 Broadway . @destruction_junket is going to hosting a gallery opening featuring work by some of our members, some performances, and some fun chaotic hanging. So the recent project I shared at the @hirshhorn as part of @soundscenefest was a graphic score that controlled a complex sonic ecosystem. A whole town of different agents and areas that held their own sonic motifs to blend and blur with one another. Here are a few pics from that ecosystem. I literally digitally collaged and created all of the textures in this. . ALSO, all of these businesses and some of the characters in this town have numbers you can call. Hey guys here are some videos from the installation of my piece “We Are a Pattern” as part of @soundscenefest 2025 at the @hirshhorn museum . . The piece is a interactive sonic ecosystem- essentially a large player piano that controls a droning synthesizer and 3D virtual soundscape. Every marking on the rotating canvas facilitates the change of midi values, control voltages, behavior of the virtual environment. I got obsessed with the idea of having a sandbox be a participatory system that we could only nudge in one direction or the other. . Showing this piece was so much more experimental than I thought it was going to be- the first day participants were just asked to touch the canvas, but everyone seemed to find a way around this, from putting their Taco Bell coupons to rubber ducks to race cars on the system. By day two I brought in paper, and the question from children to adults alike was “what will happen if I do _______”. People made mountains of paper, chains of colors and tried the best they could to explore the limits of this system. It was such a treat to create an environment which allowed this! . 🌱🌱 “We Are a Pattern” is an interactive audio installation in which participants are asked to touch a rotating canvas conveyor belt as it passes on a podium in front of them. The marks left on this canvas by continuous touch will be converted into a live graphic score as the markings pass under a camera which will control a drone and moderate the visual system.
