Seems rather fitting to end the year with this.

I would like to write something witty but nothing comes to mind. by @abstractastronaut

Painting this for an old friend; in truth it’s actually the ninth go at a steam engine.

Makes me wonder if travel was truly ‘better’ in the golden age of steam, or did history just Romanticise rail travel of days long since past? by @abstractastronaut

It’s been a while, I’ve been experimenting with new brushes & exploring. Not entirely sure about this one; personally I think @lilyjamesofficial is brilliant; actually can’t wait to watch ‘Rebecca’ the trailer looks brilliantly twisted. by @abstractastronaut

This great big little city of ours, is always full of wonder. It’s raining an still I wandering around in the thick of it. by @abstractastronaut

I’ve never tried posting a long video before, this is a almost complete start to finish. Might help those who DM me for longer time-lapses understand why I compress them to a few seconds (eight minutes is a little long don’t yah think!) by @abstractastronaut

Sometimes you’ve just got to throw away your inhibitions and dangle your feet in the water (or in this case a lake).

Starting a new project tomorrow & I’m a wee bit giddy - let’s just hope the water isn’t icy cold.. by @abstractastronaut

I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait for the cold dark weather to roll in the on-set of winter, those dark misty mornings and the wet damp morning walks with my trusty wellies.

Yes I’m a autumn & winter person all this warmth has me dreaming of a nice cold day with a book in-front of an open fire.. by @abstractastronaut

Wanted to share this last week, but Instagram wouldn’t let me. But hey, better late than never!

I’ve always adored the character of Sherlock Holmes, the original stories are really gripping but most adaptations always miss the mark (Sherlock being a major exception) that said @henrycavill is great so I’m expecting something interesting (even if the role is small).

It’s been a strange day - I ‘lost’ my phone, broke my house key (in the lock) & somehow miss-placed my copy of Agatha Christie’s The Crooked House all in the space of a single morning!

The afternoon was perhaps a marked improvement - I was able to finish this painting (based off a photo from @postcardsbyhannah), before settling down with a cuppa to wait for my very kind neighbour to liberate the part of my key stubbornly left permanently attached to the door.

Perhaps the most amusing part of this sorry tale was when my handy neighbour found my phone idly hanging out in the key bowl by the front door when my god-daughter call to tell me about covid-19 restrictions in her school. by @abstractastronaut

I completely adore this city - something about her just pulls you in.

I’ve lived here on & off for almost three decades, yet the magic hasn’t yet disappeared; nor has the enjoyment of aimlessly wandering her streets.

Think I stopped & restarted this four or five times, the result was well worth it.

Always a pleasure sketching @milliebobbybrown

So today I got a frantic series of messages asking me to paint a series from Enola Holmes.

So naturally this is the first of many, @milliebobbybrown dressed as a boy, I’m assuming this is after Enola arrived in London but before deciding to disguise herself as a lady..
