Mr. Vikas Salwan, my friend from the table tennis club, passed away yesterday morning after a prolonged illness.

I’ll always remember your warm smile, your kindness, and the way you encouraged everyone around you. You were one of the best players in our club, and you were one of the reasons I wanted to get better.

We played frequently before Covid. Then life happened. You got busy, I was probably too lazy, and somehow we stopped reaching out. I wish I had picked up the phone.

The last time I met you was in December. You had lost so much weight that I almost didn’t recognise you, but the smile was the same. So was the warmth. And so were the conversations.

I never imagined that the hug we shared when we parted that day would be our last.

Thank you for the games, the conversations, the encouragement, and the memories.

Go in peace, sir. You will be missed. 🙏🏓

Doon Masters 2026 🏁

Sometimes, the biggest win is simply showing up. 🏓

I almost skipped the inaugural Doon Masters. A last-minute entry and a family trip changed that.

Then, after reaching Dehradun, my name disappeared from the participants list! 😅

Originally seeded into the main draw, I eventually ended up playing the group matches after the mix-up was resolved.

At that point, there was only one thought:

I’ve come all the way. I’m playing.

Made it to the pre-quarterfinals, where I lost to my good friend, top seed, and eventual champion - Sameer Sahni.

The result wasn’t what I wanted, but the experience was valuable — adapt, stay focused, and keep competing.

Big thanks to the organisers for putting together a tournament of this scale, and to my Haryana teammates Aman and Vinay for the opportunity to play in the team event.

Still improving. Still learning. Still showing up.

Onwards and upwards. 💪🏓

Meet Abhilash Thomas (@abtabletennistricks), an IT guy who picked up Table tennis as a hobby at the office, and just kept climbing.

He's now ranked 2 in Delhi's 40+ Men's category for the 2026–27 season, backed by a shelf of state and district medals, Silver at the Delhi State Ranking (Jul 2026), Bronze at the Delhi State Championship, plus multiple district team honours.

No childhood training. No early start. Just someone who fell for the game later in life, and is now holding his own against seasoned, professional players.

Oh, and he'll never say no to chhole chawal. 🍛

26 July 2026 — My first State Silver!

🥈 40+ Delhi State Men’s Singles Ranking Tournament

From never having played this game as a kid, to picking it up as a hobby, in office, at 34, to now competing against seasoned and professional players — Loving every second of this journey.

I’m still a work in progress, and in it for the long run. There’s so much more to learn, improve, and experience.

And this journey is all the more sweeter because of all your love and support. ❤️

Thank you, everyone, for cheering me on, encouraging me, and believing in me. It truly means a lot.

What an absolute pleasure it has been spending these past few weeks with you—great rallies, plenty of laughs, and even better conversations. The scores may have gone back and forth, but the company was always first class.

A Sunday well spent with table tennis and a meaningful cause. 🏓

Participated in the Ping Pong Club Founder Rahul Anand Memorial Doubles Table Tennis Tournament on 10th May and secured 3rd place along with my partner, Mr. Dhruv Goel!

We had a great run to the semi-finals, beating several strong teams along the way before losing to the eventual champions and current Haryana men’s team members — Mr. Rishabh Mayank and Mr. Siddhant Kataria.

Big thanks to my doubles partner Dhruv, our non-playing captain Mr. Pushpendra Kumar Singh, and all our well-wishers for the constant support and encouragement throughout the tournament.

32nd National Masters Table Tennis Championships 2025 — Pune, 24th April – 4th May 2026.

A definite step forward from last year — but not the finish line.

Nationals have a way of exposing everything: preparation, mindset, adaptability under pressure, and the ability to read the play - on and off the table.

Lots of positives to take away, but also lessons I can’t ignore. That’s the exciting part — the work ahead is clear, and so is the intent.

I’ll fix what needs fixing, sharpen every edge, and make sure next year looks very different.

Grateful to my opponents, teammates, coaches, practice partners, and above all, my family — thank you for standing behind me through the journey.
