22/22 (parts A&B) Inman 300: Segment K aka the end! Rolling Hills Estates -> Miraleste -> San Pedro. 14.82 miles, 7 staircases, and 285 stairs. Been sitting in this one for a few weeks, but it’s time to let be and end. We completed the Inman 300! 18 months, 23 hikes, and over 240 miles later… Keeping it simple with a couple thank yous. Immense gratitude to my friends and family near and far that showed up early on weekend mornings to stomp up and across LA with me. And thank you to my friends, family, and network that helped raise $8428.72 for ALS research. Bravo❤️ We did the final section in 2 parts / over 2 days. Ella didn’t need to backpack it because she is strong AF on her own 3 feet, and the Queen Susan B Wyman herself (and the soon to be DyFi babe) even joined for our last leg! 🥰 Life is short! 21/22 Inman 300: Segment J, Part 3 + Segment K, Part 1 Malaga Cove -> Luanda Bay -> Ranchos Palos Verdes -> Rolling Hills Estates. 11.56 miles, 12 staircases, and 806 stairs. It’s starting to feel like the end of an era - 18 months later and we are just 14 miles away from finishing this thing. We started off strong with a rare July mist at our backs, and the pups were pumped for the cool concrete on their paws. The Peninsula is a funny place… we got transported through many different terrains that afternoon and ended the day with the news of the assassination attempt. Time is marked in such funny ways. Shout out to our walking buddies Caress, Lauryn, Nick, Simone, & Ipo, as well as the Ralph’s brand mango/passion fruit popsicles. 💯 And THANK YOU to everyone who has contributed to our @als team page. We have now reached $7842.83 raised for #alsresearch. Let’s finish this thing! **FINAL HIKES** will be the weekend of July 27/28. 20/22 Inman 300: Segment J, Part 2 Manhattan Beach -> Hermosa Beach -> Redondo Beach -> Torrance -> Palos Verdes Estates -> Malaga Cove. 11.1 miles, 10 staircases, and 525 stairs. Congrats to our new hikers @gettytheyetti & @kkristinishna ! Y’all brought the energy and the enthusiasm for sampling all of the local fair. And what a hike to make your debut! 🌊 LA is currently melting, so thank goodness we got to take advantage of the ocean breeze over the weekend. This was perhaps the most beautiful hike we’ve experienced; there was a nice diversity of terrains including parkway, boardwalks, bike paths, and even the sand (public beach with no pedestrian path, thank goodness for the dog backpack). Visibility was great considering the heat and we had a blast identifying LA landmarks from Malibu to DTLA all the way from Palos Verdes. Highlights included the Redondo Beach Pier & paletas on Rat Beach. THANK YOU to everyone who has contributed to our @als team page. We have now reached $7508.81 raised for #alsresearch. 200ish miles down, and 20ish to go! 💓 **NEXT HIKE is Saturday, July 13. 19/22 Inman 300: Segment I, Part 3 + Segment J, Part 1 Westchester -> Playa Del Rey -> El Segundo -> Manhattan Beach. 11.6 miles, 14 staircases, and 709 stairs. Congrats to our new hikers @annie.beannie & Hallie! And a big welcome back to @laurynterceira, Nick, @kristentoher, and @abbeebender. The May gray had us nice and covered for the first ⅔ of the day as we headed west towards the ocean and then south towards our finish line. Ella is now officially a sand monster: the girl loves to get dirty! The sun came out by the time we hit Manhattan beach and the views from up top did not disappoint. Highlights included Sand Dune Park and the Hermosa Valley Greenbelt. 18/22 Inman 300: Segment I, Part 2 Mar Vista -> Palms -> Culver City -> Westchester. 11 miles, 5 staircases, and 262 stairs. Ella and I did this one “solo.” It was a very different sort of day - I love having friends gather early in the morning and watching the ritual of sunscreen, water, and bathroom checks before we set off and catch up on the last few days/weeks/months of our lives over 10+ miles and 5+ hours. But with just me and the pup… it was quiet. I had some time to think about how far we’ve walked, how much money the community has helped us raise, and what the next adventure after this one might look like. (There were tears too). We set off with the intention of keeping it short, but with the May grey behind us we hit a groove! Ella did 8 miles on her 3 legs, and another 3 miles in her backpack. Highlights included flowers in bloom in Mar Vista and crossing both the 405 freeway and the Ballona Creek by bridge. THANK YOU to everyone who has contributed to our @als team page. 17/22 Inman 300: Segment I, Part 1 Rustic Canyon -> Santa Monica Canyon -> Santa Monica -> Venice -> Mar Vista. 11.3 miles, 18 staircases, and 1,590 stairs. To quote the guide: “This segment has some of the very best of the Inman 300 and a couple bits that you will want to forget.” We headed southbound fast with some of the most beautiful and treacherous staircases we’ve encountered, along with miles and miles of beach boardwalks and the crowded streets of Venice. And a perfectly sunny day? Thank you LA. Congrats to our three (3!!!) new hikers: @dyltron_3030 @justbtay & @heyitsjcub. We were lucky to have you join the crew. THANK YOU to everyone who has contributed to our @als team page. We have now reached $6812.00 raised for #alsresearch. 170ish miles down, and 50ish to go! **NEXT HIKE is in late April - time to squeeze in some international travel before we finish this thing off! ✈️ Then 2x hikes in May and 2x hikes in June for those final 40 miles. 🥲🥲🥾 taken in Los Angeles, California by @abwyman
