Before the war, our animation workshops were much easier to run. We had tables, chairs, electricity, and the tools we needed to produce high-quality films.

Today, everything has changed. We work with very limited resources, and sometimes the children sit on the floor to draw and create their characters. Yet they still have stories, imagination, and a strong desire for their voices to reach the world. 🎬❤️

For us, animation is not just about making films. It gives children a space to express their ideas, experiences, dreams, and hopes.

A new film from the talented young film makers in Gaza.

This film tells the story of a child whose grandmother can't sleep at night because of the back pain caused by sleeping on the ground. Her beloved grandson tries to help her by making her a bed.
First, he makes one from empty cardboard boxes which isn't strong enough for his large grandma! Then he tries making a bed from wood but makes the mistake of putting wheels on! Finally, he succeeds by grouping tins of beans together on the floor with a cover to create a stable bed or her to sleep on. Success and she falls asleep straight away!

This film was made in the Sheikh Radwan area of Gaza City, by children aged 9 to 12. They worked on the film as part of the animation workshops using creativity as a way to express themselves and share their experiances.
The workshop was run by animators, @shorouqnahed & Fatima Hamden ❤️

❤️A new film from the wonder kids of Gaza!❤️

This film is called 'Behind the Bathroom Door' and although it's a funny film, it deals with a serious problem for everyone in Gaza. Going to the toilet!

"The film tells the story of a little girl too scared to use the toilet housed in a make shift tent, shared by everyone in her refugee camp. She explains to her mother that it reminds her of everything they've lost. She misses the bathroom in their home before it was destroyed. She remembers how clean and bright it was and had a nice smell.
Wanting to help her daughter, the mother comes up with a plan that finally helps her daughter find the courage to open the door and walk inside."

It's about how a mother's love can help her child feel safe, even in the hardest circumstances. ‎

This film was made in Al-Bureij Refugee camp by a group of children aged 9 to 15. They wrote the script, animated the scenes and did the voices.

Amid the war, these workshops were far more than animation training—they became a safe space where children could speak without words.
As part of The Freedom Theatre Training Initiative, children transformed their fears, memories, and dreams into animated films they created with their own hands, discovering that art can be a powerful path to emotional healing, self-expression, and hope.
In every frame they animated, there was a story waiting to be told. ❤️🎬

🎉A new film from the children of Gaza, called the 'SpiderMan of Gaza' 🎉

This is a story about a child who has been forced to live like Spider-Man. In the displacement camps of Gaza, he is constantly moving from one place to another, carrying water, food & supplies, helping his family & those around him.
Everyone sees him as a hero - strong & always ready to take responsibility. But the child speaks in his own voice, telling us that he is NOT Spider-Man. He does NOT have superpowers. He is simply a child from Gaza who longs to have a chance to play, learn, dream & be a child again.

This film was made in Al-Shati Refugee Camp in Gaza City by children aged 8 to 12. They developed the idea, animated the scenes, and participated in the filming process themselves, transforming their experiences and feelings into a powerful story. The workshop was facilitated by two Super-Women animators, @shorouqnahed & Rahaf Abdul Jawad. ❤️

🎉They are back! The children of Gaza have made another film! 🎉

A group of children aged between 9 - 12, from Deir Al-Balah have made another short film short film.
Children who are displaced from North Gaza (Jabalia and Beit Lahia).

"The story is about a child who keeps disappearing from home—spending long hours away from the tent.
In the end, his mother discovers that he has been going to their bombed house to plant crops. He loves farming deeply, so he plants onions and vegetables, especially since food is very limited in Gaza."

The wonderful team of animators led by @animator_haneen are working hard with these beautiful children using animation and storytelling to express the reality of their lives. The women who ran this workshop are @shorouqnahed and Safaa Gahban
