That's a wrap for this project 👍 Frame extension done on a this Freighliner, getting it ready to haul some potatoes. Stretched the wheelbase and added 4 feet to the back end to get it just right for a 26' live bottom potato box. Just needs some sandblasting and paint. by @acadiacustomwelding

That's a wrap on this weldment 👍 75 ton hydraulic clamping head for @communitytruss and @eascanautomation. By far the most welding I've ever done on a single part! Roughly 2,000 lbs of steel, all glued together with an entire 45 lb roll of Lincoln Ultracore 81Ni dual-shield wire. Just turn the PowerWave 300C all the way up and weld 👍 after giving this paperweight a nice preheat first. A few hours of welding later, and it's ready for powdercoat.

Thanks to @ocfab.ltd for the design and laser cutting, @fairwaycoatings for the shiny blue touches 👌 by @acadiacustomwelding

A pretty colorful assembly morning today. Did some final touches on this jigging and storage carts. Powder coat from @fairwaycoatings making them look 👌 by @acadiacustomwelding

First time working with chrome plated, hardened shaft in the lathe. It cost me a couple inserts and at least 1 endmill, but still got a successful part in the end. Drill tap some M12 holes for the retaining cap, then drill 2 cross holes for pins the keep the shaft from spinning in the bushings. This is a bucket pin for a JD excavator. Hopefully good for a while, now 👍

Wrapped up this welding project today, this is the most just straight up welding I've done on a single project. No machining, bending, or even design work. The parts were delivered, I just welded. 90 lbs of 0.045 L59 from @lincolnelectric through the powerwave 300C. About 600 feet of welds in total. Was a fun project though, definetly needed a lot of podcasts while doing it!

One more project off the list. A dozen lumber carts for 2 different truss shops. All laser-cut and formed parts that almost all fit together like I wanted them to. As always @fairwaycoatings making my work look professional 👌

A double bale spear I glued together earlier this year. These projects are fun to do every now and then, just something simple that you can make without having to draw it out first. Just have a rough idea of what you want, and start cutting and fitting. I'd say it came out ok. Glued everything together with Hobart metal cored wire in the @lincolnelectriccanada PowerWave 300C

But by far the most exciting/intimidating addition to Acadia Custom Welding in 2023 was these 2 machines. A CNC lathe and manual knee mill. I'd been struggling for a while with getting machined parts in a reasonable time frame, even if it was just a simple repair. So we made the decision to do it all in-house. This has been a really steep learning curve, but also a rewarding one. I have zero machining experience and zero CNC coding experience, so the lathe especially was intimidating. But I'm now proficient enough to somehow make whatever part I need, even if it does take multiple tries, or takes 10x longer than it should. I definetly still have a lot to learn in this buisness.

It's been a minute since I posted anything, but work never slowed down. I was going through picture on my phone for 2023 and decided I need to post a few of these projects. This one was early in the year. The conveyor on a fertilizer trailer had completely rotten out, so I built a new one from scratch, but using stainless steel. I have very little stainless tig experience, so it was a nice learning project for sure. It turned out better than I expected. Lincoln Electric PowerWave 300C Advanced worked great for this.

Repost to fix cropped pics

Next up was a set of conveyor rollers for a local truss plant. Pretty simple project, but a good amount of welding involved. Rollers are 14 feet wide, 4 feet apart. And every other roller is powered by a small gear motor. It is a simple project, but it sure looks good when done right.

And I got these conveyor wrapped up as well, this is 1 of 4. I started these so long ago I don't have any pictures of the uncoated ones 🫣 The reason for the short horizontal conveyor is, it's supposed to help sort the material. There's a gap between the incline and horizontal conveyors so the sawdust and small pieces fall into the first bin, the second bin then only gets the longer pieces. And it seems to be working ok.

Photo dump of this recent install. Building these powered rollers has been off and on for a while now, but had to wait for the snow to finally leave to be able to install em. Pretty fun project overall, it's fairly simple, but I still learned a lot building all of this. by @acadiacustomwelding
