We recently shared our concerns regarding the downgrading of midwife-led services and the soaring medical intervention rates during childbirth in the UK. We joined others to form a collective with the aim of enhancing safe, respectful maternity care that is evidence-based and personalised. The first action we are taking is to host a seminar (see below), and all are welcome. We will also be sharing a newsletter, link to the Expression of Interest form is in our bio.

This is our dear friend and esteemed colleague Prof Soo Downe.

Just part of her talk in Nottingham recently.

I’ll try and get the link to the whole session and post in my stories.

Watch out tomorrow for an announcement - we will be sharing information on how you can get involved in a collaborative group who have gathered to take action on the current crisis in maternity care.

Repost• @midwiferyforum

Fear is rising. Choices are shrinking.

Why are more women turning to C-sections or free birth?

🚫 Birth centres are closing. Home birth’s harder than ever.

We’re stuck in a cycle and it’s hurting everyone.

“Experience of the phenomenal capacity of our birthing body can give us an enduring sense of our own power as women. Birth is the beginning of life; the beginning of mothering, and of fathering. We all deserve a good beginning.” Dr Sarah Buckley

A clip from ‘The Physiology of Childbirth’ made in collaboration with @all4maternity @acbmidwife @sheena_byrom @biomechanics_for_birth @whiteribbonalliance @drsarahjbuckley and a team of brilliant maternity experts. Follow the link in bio to watch the full film.

We made this film increase knowledge of childbirth physiology, and to demonstrate the importance of understanding the impact of physiology on birth outcomes, and experience.

Aimed at students, maternity care workers, childbirth educators academics, and anyone interested in maternity services and for parents to be, to increase their knowledge, and maximise their opportunity to have a birth as close to physiology as possible.
