Special trip this half term for neurodivergent children from the Lizard Peninsula and their carers and / or parents 📻

We’re organising a trip to the Marconi Centre at Poldhu Cove on the Lizard on Wednesday 28th October, and we’d love you to join us.

This will be a quiet session just for a small group of children and carers / parents. The centre is being opened exclusively for us by the wonderful volunteers at Poldhu Amateur Radio Club, who will be on hand to tell the children all about Marconi and the history of the site. They’ll also demonstrate how they contact people across the globe on their radios! Afterwards we will be visiting the wonderful @Poldhu Beach Cafe for hot chocolates and refreshments.

We’ll be meeting at the centre at 11am. The trip is being funded by a donation from Tesco in Helston, and we’re so grateful for their support. 💙

🍻 Tune in this Sunday: Accessible Pubs around Cornwall! 🍻

We're taking you on a tour from Penzance right through mid Cornwall and up to Bodmin and beyond.

We'll tell you what's good, what to expect, and — because honesty matters as much as a decent pint — anything worth knowing before you set off.

Today is Clare’s Day, a day to celebrate the remarkable legacy of Clare Milne.

Clare’s Day on 17th July each year celebrates Clare Milne, a special lady who remains at the very heart of the charity that proudly carries her name.

Despite her challenges Clare’s huge heart and positive attitude enabled her to achieve so much, spreading fun, laughter wherever she went. Clare lived in Devon, embracing life with Cerebral Palsy with a huge heart, great sense of humour and real character.

Perhaps it becomes a little clearer knowing that she was the only grandchild of A.A. Milne, the creator of Winnie-The-Pooh; her father was the real Christopher Robin. Though her time was far too short, Clare brought so much joy to her 56 years, many people who knew her recount many lovely stories, always involving fun and laughter.

In 1998, Clare received a significant sum of money from the sale of the copyright royalties of her grandfather’s Winnie The Pooh books. Her mother, Lesley Milne, expressed her heartfelt wish; “My dream is to know that my girl will be remembered for something that brings happiness where it is most needed. We are going to create a special charity, it’s going to be called The Clare Milne Trust.”

Clare’s important legacy has a clear focus “Through grants to charitable organisations, we support people with a disability in Devon and Cornwall”, with grants currently totalling over £13m, including over £1m in 2025.

Last year we were supported by the Clare Milne Trust to produce our Accessible Guide to Cornwall, a guide that has supported over 30,000 disabled people to find joy and connection in enjoying days out, nature trails, beaches and community spaces.

We think Clare would have loved that! Our special news is that thanks to that support last year we have been able to produce an updated guide that will be available all around Cornwall next week!

Here’s to a truly inspiring lady and A legacy that keeps on growing!!! #ClaresDay @Clare Milne Trust @AccessCornwall #AccessCornwall by @accesscornwall
