I WAS GOING TO WAIT UNTIL OCTOBER 13. I’M NOT WAITING ANYMORE👋🏽

Today, I am publicly releasing my statement and documentation about my experience as a former employee of Made Studio / Hacker Lab / Made Here CDC / Sac Made.

For nearly a year, I tried to resolve these issues privately and through the legal system. That process has ended due to the owner allegedly claiming she’s filing for bankruptcy and due to her allegedly dissolving the company that employed me, Hacker Lab while existing under new entities but the same ownership minus lawsuits. My questions haven’t ended.

My documentation concerns unpaid overtime, workplace practices, retaliation, leave and break issues, and questions surrounding the organization’s business and corporate practices.

But this is bigger than my story.

I don’t want anyone to simply believe me. I don’t want anyone to simply believe them.

When a story is told publicly, it is easy to hear one side and mistake it for the whole truth.

People deserve the opportunity to see the records, hear from the people involved, ask questions, and make their own decisions.

That is what I am putting forward: my experience, the documentation, and the evidence I have collected.

I am also asking former workers to come forward if they have experiences they believe are relevant.

You don’t have to agree with me.
You don’t have to take my side.
Just don’t let someone else decide what you believe before you have had the opportunity to see the evidence.

The documentation is now public.
You can contact me for the Dropbox link.
Yes I am aware they posted an extremely obvious post about me today. That’s why I was forced to come out, Sac Made (whatever they go by now) released a statement about me. The same day I sent the press releases out saying not to share until October 13th. Sent to a bunch of media outlets & 1 government official👀

There’s a reason why I disappeared from the studio. I was beyond horrified and didn’t know all the labor law violations, harassment, retaliation, & other behavior till 2 days after I quit when I took an HR/OSHA class🚨

Huge thank you to everyone who sent me that reel of someone using their credit card cutter to make business cards out of cardboard😍♻️

I felt strange paying for 1000 business cards every 2 months, knowing people were probably just taking down information & throwing it away within 24 hours.

So I bought my own die cutter punch in order to minimize waste💡 I collect thin cardboard from our neighbors at @wildsistersbookco @dearsisa.boutique @carnalflora @thepaperworks_sacramento & make business cards for @beyondgoodekarma @heathergallowayarts & myself💚

You can find these scorpion pendants inside the gift shop for the Death Exhibit🦂

First picture shows the scorpion pendants that came in perfect sized boxes. From each box I can get 2 business cards, and I’m saving the rest of the paper and cardboard to make handmade paper♻️🌍⚙️

We are proudly doing everything we can at @ecopress916 to be fully sustainable, reusing materials as many times as possible & even helping our neighbors be more sustainable🚀 so thankful for our community!!

We are thinking of having 1 or 2 days a month where we invite the public to bring their thin cardboard & make their own business cards.

MAYBE even having a workshop for small business owners to make their own business cards & linocut stamp their own logo onto it… who would sign up?🙋🏻‍♀️👀 Tag a friend you’d take this workshop with!

♻️ EcoPress wouldn’t exist without community🌍

This machine from @preciousplasticusa represents so much more than plastic being shredded. It represents the people, organizations, artists, volunteers, educators, and supporters who have helped us get here.

We wouldn’t be where we are without @realpreciousplastic and the incredible worldwide open-source community that shares knowledge, designs, research, and resources to make plastic recycling more accessible to everyone. Huge thank you to @recycledin.store for all the plastic waste knowledge & for their guidance!

We are especially grateful to @peninsulapreciousplastics for sharing their knowledge with us and helping us learn so much along the way for over a year now.

And a huge thanks to Justin from @preciousplasticusa for building the machinery we so desperately needed to turn our ideas into reality🌱

We owe a huge thanks to @sustainabledesign.studio for creating so many of the miniature machines and tools that have helped us experiment, learn, and start building our own plastic recycling system🛠️♻️ I love that we are able to bring our miniature shredder, miniature injection machine, PET winder on-the-road with us! Along with my panini press🥪

We couldn’t have made these leaps without the grants and funders who believed in EcoPress and helped us grow, acquire equipment, and inspire the next generation🌱 #Especially a huge thank you to @downtownsac for the Calling All Dreamers funding! We used those funds to directly purchase our 4 industrial machines, our resin printer, CNC router, pay employees & for marketing🌈

But above all, we wouldn’t exist without all of you!💚

Our plastic comes from community donations, weekly collection bins, and partners like @refillmadness and @anchorandtreecoffeeroastingco, then it’s sorted, cleaned, and processed by volunteers.

Our 15+ local artists, volunteers, and supporters are what keep EcoPress growing💫

This is bigger than one machine. It’s local plastic, open-source knowledge, and community-powered solutions.

🧹 NOVEMBER 1: J STREET
8–10 AM
📍 Meet at James Marshall Park (28th & J St)
It’s the day after Halloween… 👀🎃

Which means there will probably be A LOT of litter and bottles left behind. Let’s help clean up the space and leave it better than we found it.

🌎 WHY DO WE DO THIS?

Because recycling starts long before something reaches a recycling bin. We want to help Sacramento prevent waste from becoming litter in the first place, recover materials that can still have a useful life, and build a community that takes care of the places we share.

And yes, some of what we collect may even make its way back to EcoPress to become something new! ♻️

Come get dirty with us! 🧤

No experience necessary. Just bring yourself, clothes you don’t mind getting dirty, and a willingness to help.

📅 Save these dates & share this post with someone who should join you!
