From strengthening agro-processing to empowering agribusinesses, Day 2 of the maiden AgroMeqa Expo 2026 reinforced the importance of investment, mechanisation, and value addition in building Nigeria’s export-ready agricultural sector.

The second day featured an engaging panel session on Agro-Processing, Packaging and Value Addition: Moving from Raw Commodities to Export-Ready Products, where industry experts highlighted the need for improved infrastructure, accessible financing, modern processing facilities, and higher product quality to compete in global markets.

The 2nd Deputy President of @accinigeria , Dr Aliyu Idi Hong, encouraged agricultural stakeholders to remain resilient despite prevailing challenges, while ACCI Director General, Mr Agbaidu Jideani, called for increased government support for agricultural mechanisation to boost productivity and strengthen food production.

A key highlight was the presentation of AgroMeqa Fund awards of ₦200,000 each to Topaz Farm and Temmod Microwave Popcorn** to support their agribusiness activities.

The Expo concluded with closing remarks by its convener, Dr Olasetemi Bode Thompson, and the presentation of the draft communique, outlining key considerations for advancing Nigeria’s agricultural value chains and agro-export potential.

Held under the theme Technology and Investment for Agro-Export, the two-day Expo provided a platform for stakeholders to explore practical solutions, build strategic partnerships, and identify investment opportunities across the agricultural sector.

At ACCI, we remain committed to fostering private-sector collaboration, promoting innovation, and advancing a competitive agricultural economy that creates opportunities for businesses and strengthens Nigeria’s position in global markets.

Nigeria’s agricultural future is ripe with opportunities, and Day 1 of AgroMeqa Expo 2026 set the stage for meaningful conversations on technology, mechanisation, investment, and agro-export development.

At the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) @accinigeria , policymakers, investors, and agribusiness leaders explored practical strategies for transforming Nigeria’s agricultural sector into a competitive, export-driven economy.

Key highlights included the ACCI President, Chief @emekaobegolu, SAN, reaffirming the Chamber’s commitment to private-sector-led growth; the Honourable Minister of Livestock Development, Alh. Idi Mukhtar Maiha, outlining the vision to grow Nigeria’s livestock sector into a $74 billion industry; and industry leaders emphasising innovative financing, farmer clustering, and agro-industrial investment as catalysts for growth.

Foreign investment is great for Nigeria, but it shouldn’t come at the expense of our local businesses.
How do we protect indigenous Nigerian enterprises while keeping our doors open to global investors? That was the big question at ACCI’s recent policy webinar, hosted by NPAC.

Leaders from the FCCPC, NIPC, Nigerian Customs, and the private sector laid everything on the table. The ultimate takeaway? We need policies that ensure foreign capital complements local growth rather than competing unfairly against local traders who don’t have access to the same subsidies or cheap financing.

The Action Plan:
✅ Reviewing current trade agreements to protect domestic producers.
✅ Closing regulatory loopholes that put local businesses at a disadvantage.
✅ Pushing for policies where foreign investors actively partner with local suppliers.
NPAC is stepping up to turn these conversations into concrete policy advocacy. Let’s build a retail economy that works for everyone!
