2026 is off to a rocky start but perhaps we can look back, and ahead, to Dahlia day. Should we plan for it this fall? Did you know we had such a long history of growing this beloved flower in Kingston? Pictured here: a 1921 Daily Freeman article + a few slides from a local dahlia growers catalogue 1933 & 1940. I’d loved to have seen their garden on Oak St.

My favourite dahlia is Platinum Blonde and after taking a break from dahlias for a few years, I have several tubers to plant up this spring. With any luck, they’ll be ready for Dahlia day. by @acesgardens

A little step by step guide to forcing bulbs. It could not be easier!

I used vessels from my home and a few that I collected at @ulsterhabitatrestore earlier today. The abundance of moss is from my backyard.

Looking forward to showing you results later this winter. ♣️ by @acesgardens
