Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.

Wow. What a week. 🤍

Watching my guy win Canada was extremely sweet for a multitude of reasons, probably some you wouldn’t expect.

I’ve gotten to see the moments that social media and rodeo broadcasts don’t catch. I’ve gotten to know this man’s heart, his character, his humility, his insane work ethic, and just how much he pours into what he does every single day. There is genuinely no quit in this one. I’ve gotten to witness his beautiful walk with God, his prayer life, belly laugh with him over the dumbest things, and watch how he selflessly loves and cares for me, his family, and the people around him.

I’ve also watched him walk through some tough things. I’ve seen him be lied about, and things shared in misleading ways to get others to believe something about him that is not true. Yet through it all, I’ve watched him remain true to the man he is, keeping his head down, choosing forgiveness over bitterness and surrendering the need to right every wrong. He’s reminded me that we don’t have to fight every battle or correct every lie when we trust God to be our Defender. He would rather honor God than get down in the mud with those throwing it at us. He reminds me often to trust God to be our Vindicator and bring truth to light.

THAT is the kind of man I absolutely love, respect and admire. Who I’m proud to stand beside. Not because of the wins you all see, but because of who he is when nobody’s watching.

He’s unlike any other to me, and I feel so incredibly grateful that God let us meet this year. I did ask him what took him so long tho lol.

Orin, watching you become a Canadian Champion was incredible, but getting to know the man you are and doing life together has really been the best. I am SOOOOO dang proud of you. You’re my double portion.

The first shoot for a new body of work. One focused on the connection between horse and rider. Dedicated to finding your way back to the saddle. Discovering the strength in softness. It’s only fitting that @acgianni be the first model. We starting doing photoshoots for fun at age 13 and have lived a lot of life since then. It was incredible to see her in Montana and reconnect like no time had passed. Shot on 35mm and 120 mm in Montana. Developed by @biggscamera taken in Bozeman, Montana by @acgianni

I have been spending more time with my people and less time on my phone, but I wanted to write a little bit about this last year.

It held more hard learned lessons. It also deepened my trust in God exponentially.
Some months shaped by heartbreak and disappointment, others laced and intertwined with joy and adventure. All of them leaving behind wisdom and insight I wouldn’t have gained otherwise.

I had unexpected and amazing opportunities, came eye to eye with answered prayers, met new people I know God put right on my path, spent time with good friends and made the kind of memories I’ll hold onto forever… and maybe one day tell my grandkids about.
I made selfish mistakes. Said too much at times. Didn’t say enough at others. Probably traveled too often and I’m sure some moments forgot what actually matters the most on this side of eternity. At times I let other’s opinions or wrongdoings weigh heavy on my mind much more than I should.

Overall, I’m dang grateful.

This year I somehow discovered more sweetness in being a Tata, and the gift of seeing my sister and her husband create and grow the most beautiful babies (the next one will be here real soon!)

Seeing close friends, near and far, living out their beautiful dreams and taking big steps in life, even some becoming parents for the first time.

Being in community with my bible study girls and realizing they teach me more than I could ever teach them.

The blessing of loving my yellow animals, my pups Ahria and Stetson and horse Lefty.

The time I had in Southeast Asia that absolutely wrecked my shallow mindset, and the people there I think of every day and pray for until I get to be back with them again.

This ride we call life can be wide open and sharply painful sometimes. We could let that drive us to isolate in fear and self protection, to let our saddles get dusty and bits rusted.
But I don’t want that kind of dull life spent worrying about the unknown, with my feet ‘safely’ on the ground.
No, I wanna trust the Author of what’s next and get back on, instead.

So this year I’ll try my best to keep my seat, my heart full of hope, and to hang on real tight for whatever is to come. by @acgianni
