DoPing Cinematography Workshops 2026

There are dreams that live inside you for years… and then one day you realize you are already living that dream.

Years ago, we dreamed that one day Armenia would have the opportunity to welcome the world’s greatest cinematographers — to hear their stories, share their vision and knowledge, and learn from their experience. Today, that dream has become reality.

For the second year in a row, the Armenian Cinematographers Guild has organized DoPing — a three-day cinematography masterclass bringing together some of the world’s leading professionals.

We were honored to have @georgemooradianasc ASC, ACG leading the masterclass sessions and sharing his decades of experience. Together with him, we also had a special lighting masterclass with Danny Mooradian, a Hollywood gaffer, supported by @nanlux_official.
We had the privilege of meeting:

Bruno Delbonnel @brunodelbonnel — six-time Academy Award nominee, known for his unique visual language in films such as Amélie, Harry Potter, Macbeth, and Darkest Hour.

Seamus McGarvey @seamiemc — two-time Academy Award nominee and one of today’s most influential cinematographers.

Mahmoud Kalari — legendary Iranian cinematographer who has worked with filmmakers such as Kiarostami, Makhmalbaf, Panahi, Mehrjui, and Farhadi.

And Francesca Zerenghi @fran_entertainmentpublicist — cinematographer, film industry professional, and founder of Cinegirl.
The most important thing is that all of this happened in Armenia.
DoPing became a place where Armenian and international cinematographers could meet, exchange ideas, and create new connections.

Dear Cinematographers,

The ACG is excited to admit new members!

According to the regulations, each new candidate must be nominated and endorsed by at least two current ACG members. The endorsing members must also attend the candidate’s meeting with the ACG Board and introduce the candidate.

The candidate must have shot at least two feature-length films (this requirement is temporarily waived for female applicants).

To apply, candidates are required to submit:
• a showreel (reel) or at least trailers of their films,
• a résumé (CV),
• a link to their website or social media page.

The deadline for submitting information about new candidates is October 5, 2026.

The dates of the meetings with the ACG Board will be announced in advance. An individual meeting will be held with each candidate and the ACG members endorsing them.

Please send the required information to Mkhitar Serobyan at serobyanmkhitar@gmail.com, also indicating the names of the two ACG members endorsing you.

ACG խորհուրդը որոշում է կայացրել նոր անդամներ ընդգրկելու մասին։

Ըստ կանոնակարգի՝ նոր թեկնածուն պետք է ներկայացված լինի ACG-ի առնվազն 2 գործող անդամների կողմից՝ երաշխավորությամբ։ Երաշխավորող անդամները պետք է ներկա գտնվեն նաև թեկնածուի՝ ACG խորհրդի հետ հանդիպմանը և ներկայացնեն նրան։

Թեկնածուն պետք է նկարահանած լինի առնվազն 2 լիամետրաժ ֆիլմ (կին դիմորդների համար այս պահանջը ժամանակավորապես չի գործում)։

A look back at a special moment last month in Yerevan, where Seamus McGarvey ASC BSC ISC @seamiemc was honoured with the Golden Apricot Master Award 🍑⭐️ following a special screening of Die My Love (dir. Lynne Ramsay)

As part of DoPing Cinematography Workshops 2026, hosted by @acguild , Seamus shared his sharing his experience and perspective on the craft with emerging filmmakers and fellow cinematographers.

Hayk is a @tumocenter alumni, and has studied under one of our members. Hayk is one of many young and talented individuals who have training in the world of cinema from our members throughout Armenia.

This year’s DoPing Workshops also featured three insightful presentations exploring the latest developments in cinematography, production, and lens technology.

Andy Buckland from ARRI @arri introduced the new Ensō Prime lenses, demonstrating how the innovative Ensō Vintage Elements system allows cinematographers to quickly tailor the character, texture, and feel of an image without changing the lens itself.

The Cinema Foundation of Armenia @cfarmenia presented the Armenina’s new Cash Rebate Program, outlining its benefits, application process, and the exciting opportunities it creates for both local and international productions choosing to film in Armenia.

Rounding out the presentations, Vika Safrigina @vikams7 of Leitz Cine @leitzcine was joined by Bruno Delbonnel ASC AFC and Seamus McGarvey ASC BSC ISC for a discussion on the creative importance of lens selection, exploring how lens choices shape visual storytelling and influence the emotional language of a film.

Legendary cinematographer Mahmoud Kalari joined George Mooradian ASC ACG for a compelling conversation reflecting on his remarkable career and the images that have shaped it.

The discussion explored Kalari’s work documenting the Iranian Revolution, the responsibility of photographing history as it unfolds, and the experiences that led him from photojournalism to becoming one of Iran’s most celebrated cinematographers.

Through personal stories and iconic images, attendees gained a rare insight into a lifetime dedicated to visual storytelling and the enduring power of the camera.

A special thank you to NANLUX @nanlux_official, with the support of Taylor & Co. Rentals @taylor_and_co_rental for hosting our lighting demonstration.

The session was led by brothers George Mooradian ASC ACG, and Atlanta-based gaffer Denny Mooradian.
