The #woosterbiastop gives me ✨feels✨ so please bear with me. This is why I sew and this is what a good garment should feel like.

I have a soul-deep, relentless love for crewneck sweatshirts and an immense distaste for clingy or restrictive garments. It's easy for me to get lost in giant sweats for days on end and absolutely nothing was going to end that rut unless it felt equally comfortable and simple.

Enter: the bias collection by @thepatternline. I specifically like that good bias garments work with and around the body instead of against it. The clothes should fit (and serve) the body not the other way around.

That is *exactly* what the Wooster bias top does. This tank flows with me. It's so comfortable and easy that I forget that it's even on. Sometimes I even forget to change out of it and into sweats when I get home! No compromise here - a garment can be both beautiful and comfortable.

It's hard to do this piece justice without video (and I'm not that brave yet) but I think these images capture how it feels to wear it; soft, light, easy, free, fluid, unincumbered.

On to the details -
- scoop neck view, flat spaghetti straps, fully lined (because the lining offers a little variety against my other Wooster tops)
- I LOVE the timeless silhouette
- the construction is both technical and easy. This pattern absolutely made me a better sewist
- rayon blend shimmer twill from @joannfabrics which is STUNNING. I love the way it wears, even down to the way it wrinkles.
- graded from 4 bust to 6 waist and I shortened the straps quite a bit.
- this one is unhemmed! I couldn't decide on what I wanted so I've been wearing and washing it as is. I think I'll leave it this way but I may eventually add a quick row of safety stitches along the bottom
- This is just one of 4 pieces that I batch sewed over a weekend in September. I could probably make a Wooster in my sleep at this point. The fact that the #woosterbiastop, #crosbybiasdress, and #mercerbiasskirt were so clearly designed to work together makes them perfect for a mini capsule!

Happy Pattern Release, @hisydgraham! #rubyvest is here and lovely ❤️

I'm so happy to have been part of testing for this cute lil vest! I learned SO MUCH and skill building is my main goal when choosing a new pattern these days. I wasn't super sure where a quilted vest would fit into my wardrobe but I knew I wanted to try. The simple lines of this are so good, especially those curves and the way it floats when it's worn open or tied.

So, are you also thinking "Well what will I wear it with?!" The answer is absolutely whatever you want to wear it with. I have it styled here over two of my favorite and most worn #memades - the Crosby dress from @thepatternline the #mapledress from @genuinelyempatterns. Also just thrown over some madewell jeans and a chonky sweater. If you can wear a Ruby vest over a shimmery bias dress then what can't you wear it with?! Be prepared to see it back this summer over whatever cutoffs and tank top I throw on as I run out the door.

Bottom line? IF YOU WANT THE VEST THEN MAKE THE VEST!

Details:
- measured at and sewed a size 4
- denim and sunrise 🌄 patch upcycled from a dress, striped fabric also upcycled from a dress.
- I only quilted one side of the fabric because I wanted to keep the denim smooth and simple with the patch
- holy bias binding! Definitely a good project to practice your binding skills
- the quilting was super approachable! I used some thrifted fleece for the batting and have another queued up in regular cotton batting
- it feels a bit like a nice hug for your 🍈 in the best way

#lockerloopshirt is here!!!!! So thrilled to have been able to test this pattern for @bygraciesteel 💕

A button down was one of my skills goals for December and I couldn't have asked for a better pattern to start with. Construction was so easy I did it twice! (Aka I had lumpy topstitching and unpicked almost the whole shirt and redid it). Nailed the collar and sleeve plackets on the first shot!

I did not, however, nail the pearl snaps 😂 I ended up swapping them for heavy duty snaps. It was important for me to be able to get in and out of it quickly and without breaking a cute lil nail

Details:
- straight size D. No changes aside from skipping the roll tabs and adding the snaps and adding the bias hem
- cotton duck leftover from my #blairskirt. It's mid-ish weight so it worked into the perfect shacket
- my first color blocking project! Gracie's guide for how to block is genius and will even help you orient stripes if that's your jam
- I'm a sucker for high-end finishes and this has them all! The burrito yoke is beautiful. There's plenty of room for French seams if you want em

Finally joined the @sewnwithgrit #swgperennialblouse train and I get the hype! Slowly trying to find my groove with sewing again and this one was a big win for me! I'm not usually into button blouses but this feels both dainty and relaxed and I love the fited waistband paired with plenty of ease everywhere else and the super deep scoop. Sometimes you just wanna be able to lift your arms without the whole top coming up, ya know? Have probably already worn this 10+ times since i made it last month. Will definitely be making more! by @aclassicdarling

Very happy Lottie time, @millersbrand!
I'm unfortunately a little behind on photos thanks to covid. The good news for me is that I finished this set first! I've basically been living in it for the last couple of weeks. I need to do a deep dive on the shorts because I LOVE them, and they've been getting almost daily wear since they came off of my machine. There's a pretty good chance I hack a long version soon! Maybe back woth more deets when I'm fully on the mend?

I badly needed a sewing win and this was a quick, enjoyable sew for me! Most importantly, it has the exact k-drama lounge set vibe that i was going for. 💕 by @aclassicdarling

Introdcing the #swsornella for the @plainjane_newyork #pjnyremix and @cinnamondaisystudio #ohscrap25 ! Ornella is currently in testing, but she's the perfect scrappy pattern, and I just knew i had to give a knit version a go for for my plain jane upcycle!

LOVE that I was able to breathe some life back into two grungy old tees and create something that is perfect for the FTG (free t*tty gang). I'll be back with more fit details for the pattern later, but the important bit here is that i will def be upcycling more tees this way! Fully constructed with straight stitches (except for the neckband) since it doesn't need to stretch. And let's just not talk about how stretched out the ribbing is...we're going for "resourceful" here 🤣 by @aclassicdarling

Life lately: in which I leave my desk for a few minutes, still find sewing things, and sweat my way across the city with @rolandofgan to check another glossier location off my bucket list ✅️

Will definitely be going back to the garment district one day but maybe with a plan and an extra suitcase 😀 by @aclassicdarling

🧲🍀#justmyluckjeans 🍀🧲

Feeling ultra lucky to have tested this pattern for @forest.and.thread and luckier still that my first pair of jeans could turn out this incredible! If you haven't had tried one of Isabelle's patterns yet...I mean what are you waiting for?!

Remember last year when I said I would never make jeans? Well leave it to @forest.and.thread to make me eat my words 😂 I can't resist a sharp silhouette. I made this pair slowly and joyfully over a few evenings and I never imagined that sewing jeans could feel so comforting. I've been a bit at odds with my body this year and it feels really good to make something that just feels right, ya know? Styled here in 3 very different ways (in 10 minutes) and I love how perfectly they fit with a wide variety of looks.

Details:
- incredible size range and 3 inseam lengths! I sewed size 0 in the b block with the 27" inseam and couldn't be happier with the fit.
- 14 oz 100% cotton denim. I hot washed and dried twice before cutting and these feel comfy already
- I challenge you to find a jeans pattern with better instructions. Go on, I'll wait.
- going through round 2 of testing was amazing! There's so much of Isabelle in this pattern but also the voices and tips/tricks of all of the testers 💕
- there are so many amazing details here but I wanted to focus my photos on the super cool 🧲 SHAPE! I have 20ish pairs of jeans but this is truly unique to my closet.
- worn here with my #lpleiatop from @lore.piar which will be back on the grid soon 💕

🌷#rufflebrunchset 🌷

Catching up on photos of my spring makes as the energy strikes (aka as I wear them) and this set is in heavy rotation! I previewed the ruffle brunch set from @matchymatchysewingclub and then just immediately started wearing it like it's been a closet staple for years.

I was *obviously* sold at the ties but the pants were the unexpected star! I find myself reaching for them nearly everyday when I'm wondering from home. Maybe I'll spin back with how I've paired the pants and top separately? Fabric here is the rayon linen blend in olive from @iseefabric and it feels so incredibly ✨ luxurious ✨I'm definitely working up the matching shorts soon!

Details -
- I measured at/sewed and size xs and I'm very happy with the fit! It has a quite a bit of ease so you could size down if you preferred but I find that this has the perfect amount of "oversized" to it. Everything stays put, no wardrobe malfunctions. I'm also impressed by the overall size range!
- there are some interesting construction details here! I especially like how the ties and sleeve ruffles are added
- Gutermann color 8780 is such an exact color match for this linen that I did a French seam for the crotch curve because I sewed wrong sides together and my thread matched too well to pick it all apart 🤣 (see the last slide)
- the neckline of the top is an exact match for the #crosbybiasdress from @thepatternline which is ultra handy for me since I wear that all the time. Perfect way to add a little coverage for the office!
- that said, this is my new work from home uniform. I've tried a LOT of rtw and me-made garments but these pants are the first thing to get me out of my sweatpants consistently sooooooo I have more planned!

#waterfalldress is here!

My backlog of project posts has been getting longer by the hour! I've been down with flu/COVID/everything else for so long that it's been hard to keep up! BUT, in all of that I've still managed to work some things up between naps 🥰 still not feeling 100% but photos to follow when I have 10 minutes of awake time to take them 😂

This @sycamoreroadpatterns cutie was one of our patterns for Feb for the #sewclubsewciety and since the giant sleeves happen to be on my 2024 goals lost I had to jump in! (And holy moly, these sleeves are HUGE)

I also hacked it like crazy because...why not? So here are the details:

- size c. I found it very true to size but I'm surprised that the bodice hit at my natural waist! I have a super short torso so my taller friends might want to extend that
- I added in seam pockets, scrapped the collar, swapped the button placket for a narrow facing and these cute ties, and did gathers instead of pleats across the arms 💕
- as captain of the ibtc I actually find the bodice secure enough to wear without the ties! Swipe to see how I tied them down the sides to keep the center v open 👀
- temporary 2" hem here. I think I'm going to go ahead and cut the excess and do a lil rolled hem
- next time I would extend the sleeves a little longer if it would fit on my fabric and move the gathers to right across the top of the shoulders
- TBD but I might also set the bottom of the sleeves up a little higher and close the side of the bodice up differently
- as much as I don't enjoy zigzagging elastic I do find it helped the shape of the waist a lot!
- I truly can't describe how large the pattern piece for the sleeve is 🤣 it's larger than my great Dane and about as long as my sofa
- ULTRA TWIRLY if that's your jam!

💕Ahhh today is Edna day! Happy Pattern Release, @andreacondes_design! 💕

I've been falling in love with knits again and this top is an easy add to my wardrobe! This pattern is also being released in Spanish and English 😊

If you love a knit that isn't super clingy then this is definitely you! (And the cute twist at the neck is a big bonus)

Details -
- this is not a fitted top! I repeat...THIS IS NOT A FITTED TOP. OMG think that's what I love the most! It's snug around the shoulders the way it should be but has a nice amount of ease around the bust and tummy
- sewn at a size...small/38 in a rayon jersey I took a chance on from j.beezy. I actually love the fabric! I'm aiming to add more red/purple/pink to my closet. It doesn't roll much though and is a little lower recovery than my other jerseys.
- which reminds me, my toxic trait rn is unhemmed knits because I love them! ESPECIALLY if they roll. I often prefer that for tops I'll wear tucked in or layered. This one I may go back and hem though since it doesn't roll
- the sleeves are nice and long! I have pretty long arms but even if I hem the sleeves as written they'll still fall just below my wrists.
- I'd say this is advanced beginner/intermediate just for the construction of the neck. It's a little fiddly at first but Andrea will have a video tutorial as well to help!

🍕♥️ I love Lenne like I love pizza ♥️🍕

That feeling when your pizza gets delivered just as you're getting photos. Also, there's nothing quite like video to make you realize you're a lil weird. Does anyone else eat pizza with their pinky out? Just me? Cool, cool.

(I did actually get detail shots of the top so this cherry is showing up on the grid again 🤣)
