“Coming out of the Cave” performed Jan 11, 2024 at Pasadena City College at the opening of “Xanadu,” a group show curated by @shellitollman. Thanks to Shelli and @cain_jeff at @galleries.at.pcc.

The artist humorously enacts an allegory of returning from the pandemic, creeping back into society and life as it was.

This performance takes cues from the golden era of Looney Tunes, 1970s-80s video pioneers such as Martha Rosler and Bruce Nauman, performances of Mike Kelley and Simone Forti, and Judson Dance Theater era movement of Yvonne Rainer.

The performance uses handmade sculptural props to improvise ritual, dancing, defending against potential attacks, quiet contemplation and finally joining the group.

Video shot by @bacnheday and edited by me.

I re-edited both short and long versions of documentation from my first performance, Mid-Pandemic March.

The double-time speed enhances the Buster Keaton humor of the original performance. Still my most ambitious performance to date.

Thank you (again) to all those who helped me realize my dream: @jenn.berger @villeneuvekathryn @rachneu @_rekkah_ @amygre @leslielanxinger @kiellison @bairbro @alice_konitz_studio @wyrd_wud @julikalackner @irenicprojects @bacnheday

This series of double-sided banners were made to reflect pandemic (and mid-career) fatigue and keep us marching along till the end. The performance is accompanied by a band playing The French Defile March.

Performed at Irenic Projects, located at Missiongathering Church in Pasadena, CA December 3, 2022.

Performed September 13, 2026 at the opening for “RAGER,” a group show curated by Nicola Vruwink at @goatgallerylanders in Landers, CA. After setting the scene with a pile of rubble, hand-painted signs were used to lead the group in a series of shouted epithets designed to blow off steam in the face of recent global and political events.

“Everything is Fine” was performed September 13, 2026 as part of “RAGER,” a group show at @goatgallerylanders in Landers, CA. Three double-sided signs gave looney tunes form to pairs of slogans that viewers were invited to yell out while stomping around a pile of rubble in the desert.

On September 13, Goat launches its fall exhibition season with RAGER, an ambitious exhibition featuring six artists. The show will open with a reception from 5–8 p.m., and at 6:30 p.m., Alice Clements @aclemmm —one of the exhibiting artists—will debut her performance piece, Everything is Fine.

Clements sets the stage with rubble and hand-painted signs, then invites the audience to participate—distributing props and guiding the group through a series of cathartic movements and spirited exclamations designed to release tension and elevate the collective spirit.

In addition to Alice Clements’s (@aclemmm ) performance, RAGER features works by:

Carlos Ramirez @c.ramirez2323
Ichiro Irie @ichiroirieart
Judy Lichtman @judylichtman
Alice Lang @alicemlang 0
Macha Suzuki @macha_suzuki_studio

We invite you to join & participate in Alice’s performance at 6:30 p.m. on the 13th and experience the full breadth of the exhibition.
If you can’t make the opening, RAGER will remain on view through Sunday, October 18.

Art March was part of the June 2026 LACMA Art Parade, a celebration for the opening of the new Geffen wing. 5 double sided banners with pithy epithets were activated by 13 marchers led by a marching band. I directed the group with whistle commands and unusual slogans shouted through an ungainly sculptural megaphone.

Thank you to @lacma @jeffreydeitch as well as my wonderful team of performers: @alise_spinella @nicolavruwink @artpreservation1x1 @c.chinn.1 @0_planetclaire_0 @krisskrossartsauce @alissami

Newly re-edited reel of Pass The Prop
July 26, 2025, Art in the park community cultural programs, Los Angeles.

Elaborating on the “adaptives” of Franz West, a set of clunky sculptural props were passed around by performers in a choreographed game set inside a former lawn bowling club house.

Each prop had several potential uses and performers improvised to find more.

An exercise in experimentation and improvisation within a set form, the performance recalls the work of artists such as Simone Forti and Yvonne Rainer, the physical comedy of Looney Tunes and Buster Keaton, and the way children play with found objects.

“Tell Me Your Story” was an interactive piece included in @laroadconcerts on April 26, 2026 in front of the old Sparkletts water factory on York Blvd.

Community members were invited to sit on either end of a bench shaped like a telephone receiver and recount stories of their experiences in the area as well as to call in their stories a voicemail. Tin can telephones of various shapes and sizes were also available to play with.

At one point a traveling line dance teacher with portable tunes i.e. @germanhemingway came and taught us a line dance. (See photo)

My phone bench took another spin on May 11, 2026 to @booksoup for a conversation with @stephaniefairyington about her thought-provoking memoir “Ugly: A Letter to my Daughter.”

We had a lively discussion that covered themes of identity, aging, gender, beauty and communication.

Our feminist rebel yell/ progressive party was crashed at the end by a conservative Russian filmmaker who seems to be friends with various members of Trump’s cabinet, making for a spicy conclusion to the event. 🌶️ by @aclemmm
