NYC lost a hero last week.

I was at Sick of it All’s first CT show at the Anthrax, circa ‘87. Like a lot of us hardcore kids at that time, we’d first heard their tracks on Revelation Records’ Together 7” compilation, and were immediately struck by their sound; kind of a return to the hardcore I’d discovered a few years earlier. No metal, no youth crew stuff, just fast, angry meat and potatoes hardcore. Between their Anthrax/CT visits, and more than a few Super Bowls of Hardcore at the Ritz et al, I probably saw them more than any other hardcore band since I started going to shows in 1985.

I saw them again a few years ago and they hadn’t missed a step. Just as ferocious, potent and relevant as they were nearly 36 years earlier. I spoke with Lou after the show and told him that. He just smiled and said “It’s because we never stopped”.

Never stop

Rest well, Lou
