Join us in recognizing five officers who led the Albemarle County Police Department in DUI arrests during the past year: Officers Bonney, Davis, Garcia, Johnson, and Leckrone (not pictured).

Their efforts demonstrate initiative and dedication to identifying impaired drivers and helping keep everyone traveling through Albemarle County safe.

💡Through August 30, there have been 190 DUI arrests and 40 DUI-related crashes in Albemarle County. If you’re drinking, plan ahead for a safe ride home. Designate a sober driver, use a rideshare, or make arrangements to stay where you are. A safe ride is always worth it. by @acpd_va

Last weekend, ACPD conducted a traffic enforcement operation in southern Albemarle County focused on behaviors and violations that can contribute to motor vehicle crashes.

With assistance from the Virginia State Police and Scottsville Police Department, officers conducted 63 traffic stops and identified 38 violations, including 16 expired inspections and/or registrations and 11 speeding violations.

Last month, we celebrated the retirement of Lieutenant Angela Jamerson after more than 30 years of service to our country and community.

Angela began her career in the U.S. Navy before entering law enforcement and joining ACPD in 2001. From patrol to School Resource Officer, and ultimately Sergeant and Lieutenant, she has spent her career building relationships, mentoring others, and strengthening our department.

Please join us in congratulating Officer J. Morris and Detective D. Ricci, our Officer and Detective of the Quarter!

Officer Morris was recognized for his work during a high-risk SWAT operation that led to the successful apprehension of a homicide suspect. He also served as a motor officer during a dignitary visit and a fallen officer escort. During the quarter, he gave up 10 days off to assist with fatal crash responses, investigations, and patrol staffing.

Detective Ricci was recognized for his work on a complex sexual assault investigation requiring exceptional professionalism, compassion, and empathy while working with multiple victims. The case is now moving forward through court proceedings.
