A few weeks ago we exchanged thoughts with @tejashreeraul from @elleindia about our provocative thoughts on sustainability. And why we refuse to use the word to describe ourselves as so. For us the case for mindfully consuming (well made things designed to last and versatile in nature) means we consume less over time and that was at the heart of why the brand was started. There has never been an expectation that we'd change human craving and desire for newness; but with a little bit of ethical production and considered design for wardrobe classics or whimsical novelties you can slow that hunger down. We've engineered our clothing to be something you can rely on, reducing fitting issues with smocking, or creating statement structured silhouettes that have volume (but not weight) so both fitted and playful silhouettes accommodate for the changing nature of the body through days and months. This encourages those to use garments, more.  We would never use the word sustainable to define our identity, until there is some certification easily adopted through the fashion industry, because we know how erroneously the word is used and we dont want to be part of the greenwashing problem even if our intention is mindfulness. We are still learning and keeping up with best practices when we can adopt them. by @acquire.acquire

As your body changes week to week and sometimes even within the same night, we believe clothing should keep up and be able to adapt to you too. Proud to have been featured in an article that articulates the context we are responding to as a brand, designer and consumer. As any of our clients who have worn our smocked pieces will tell you it's so unique (catches a lot of double takes, the amount of compliments sometimes overwhelms) and is still wildly comfortable: they begin to wonder why this was the first time they didn't instantly want to rip off "formal wear" the minute the obligation to wear it was done. Or returning clients, ones buying colour variations or encouraging family to acquire their own: we know you feel the difference. And thank you. @divyabal thank you for your keen and observant eyes, due diligence for trying on items and articulate...mind. And your hands for typing it all out. ❤️ @vogueindia by @acquire.acquire

Its all about the blouse. We wanted to create one hand smocked, easy to slip on, no zips, no hooks, that could bend, move, and sculpt the body and be reminiscent of our day dreams of coral reefs. The blouse had to be living, allow the wearer to breathe, almost like a living reef too. It couldnt be hard or uncomfortable.The shape and embroidery had to be redesigned without the typical discomfort. (restricted movements, cuts and bruises.) But also hold the body. Shape it. The only way we could reinvent our signature sari was by making this. taken in Coral Bay by @acquire.acquire

It felt like she had the softest armour on, shaping her silhouette into something from a time gone by but also of the present. The hand smocking was not uniform, the plume of the corset had a cloud like texture that bubbled up beyond the surface, lightly exaggerating deep v of the heart like shape of the boneless corset that had a beautiful soft curved neckline tp contrast. When you spend so much time in nature, you realize you must have it around at all times. Isnt it absurd we choose to live in cement boxes? A little montage of the Plummage technique in different places, and how it pops out and grabs attention everyehere, it was a process to shape it into form, there were moments it was too much and finally "just right". by @acquire.acquire

Supermodel @avantinagrath wears our new exploration 'the plumage' technique in recycled organza. We tried to mimic leaves (flavescence, their aging green surrendering to gold) and feathers (autumnal and without the creulty). On the body we took forth our signature galaxy smocking and embroidery with tiny pearls in a liminal sea green for a whimsical not literal interpretation of nature. You can see the behind the scenes moments in the studio as you swipe through. The bare nails, barefeet, sitting on the floor to be grounded, no jewelry all acquire style unplugged. Picked up from our studio before we even photographed it @tashmani chose to acquire our cut out back dress. Over this summer she wore it for decadent theme party. As an aesthete has a sharp eye for fashion, hosts pop ups and previously was a department store womenswear buyer: she selected our new cut our backless dress, as an evolution of our signature cowl dress (slide3), we love the same concepts done anew. And she reconized that. Natasha will add to her a wardrobe with ACQUIRE icons, pieces of aesthetic codes that will survive trends. An impeccable individual, fills the room with warmth and energy whichever room she enters. by @acquire.acquire
