We have a dream that one day music spaces will be filled with deep human connection, authentic engagement, and a live music experience like it was always meant to be experienced. Not through a phone screen, not for the clip, but in the present moment.

Hopeful to hear so many artists like @momoboyd + @spillmyink + @kidsthatfly + @thegringoss + @blairdaviemusic + @investinstockz + @armen_paul + @alisonstiel + @amyjaymusic and so many other artists and fans who stopped by the daytime phone-free activation and evening afterparty at the Mohawk in Austin this past SXSW, in partnership with @billboard + @globaldayofunplugging 🤘🏼

We had a bedtime chat with Auri after a full day of celebrating her 5th birthday. Nathan asked her to help us know how to be the best parents, because she’s never been 5 before, and we’ve never been parents of a 5 year old before. We’re a team. We’re figuring it out together. She smiled. It was so precious, and grown.

Auri, you’re a force. You know exactly what you want, and always have. I envy that. You can listen to a song or hear a concept or idea just once and fully grasp it. You get it. You’re a natural born leader, bossy AF, the most amazing big sis, and the most triggering first-born daughter. It’s a gift. I get to heal all my shit, and you’re the best partner for it. For both me and your Aba.

Mazal tov to the girl who changed my life and made me a mom, and who knows it.

Sadie Jean sings regret and makes it sound like hope. An incredibly gifted, nuanced songwriter who manages to turn those deep angsty feelings that we don’t want to talk about into absolute smashes that we sing in the car at the top of our lungs. An old soul in a young body. Gatton makes everything feel ok. The way it all just feels so effortless for him. He could be singing about death and breakups and all the bad things and it feels like a lullaby, like a warm blanket…like everything’s gonna work out by the time the song is over. It doesn’t hurt that he’s also exactly the same in person. Gordi 😮‍💨 when we fail to articulate how incredible she is in this caption at least we can quote her and say “heaven I know that we tried.” Gordi is so unassuming. She’s quiet, calm, collected — absurdly nonchalant. Then she opens her mouth, and suddenly, there’s not enough air in all the world. She sings and you hold your heart in your throat. Everything is fragile, as if the whole word is holding its breath. Maybe it’s the accent, or maybe it’s that crazy low voice that doesn’t make sense coming out of her face and how it can also touch the highest peaks of the most tender notes so effortlessly. Either way, @gordimusic is the epitome of the #offlinesessions and made us all feel it. Thank you for being such an important part of our dream by @acresofwild

Nico Franc is…a wildcard. One minute you’re jamming to a fun, high energy bop with intricate guitar licks and insane solos and next thing you know he pulls an Uno reverse and you’re crying your eyes out to a heart wrenching ballad. He’s kind, generous, gentle and honest — everything you want in someone who’s holding your heart in their hands. Frances Whitney is one of those artists that hit you like a tidal wave when you first hear them. Her writing feels ancient, like some classic song you heard when you were a kid, or in a past life, and somehow at the same time…current, and timely. It feels close to your heart, almost too close…like she’s in your head. Singing out loud all those feelings you keep hidden away in the quietest parts of yourself. We had the immense privilege of hosting @frannybanany on the first ever #OfflineSessions hearts were broken and mended, tears were shed, lives were changed. To feel a deep collective heaviness is a wild experience. And not a unique one for the Jewish people, especially as of late. We hold each other close, our babies closer. Our anxiety spikes randomly and often, almost as if at a DNA level our entire beings understand. I want to believe we’re repairing the tears of our ancestors, I want to believe that we will heal.
