River’s birthday trip. Wow. ❤️

I honestly needed some time to even put into words what this trip meant to all of us because it was so much more than just a birthday trip. It was the kind of adventure that creates memories you know you’ll be talking about for years.

Every year for River’s birthday, we tell him that instead of having a birthday party, he can choose anywhere in the world he wants to travel to.

His answer?

“Denver. I want to see my Auntie Moon.” 🥹

So we hopped on a plane and headed to Colorado for the most unbelievable adventure.

And let me tell you… we packed it ALL in. 😂

4:00 AM drives to watch the sunrise at Red Rocks. 🌄
Train rides.
Cave tours.
Scootering around town.
Side quests and ghost hunting. 👻
A full-on dance party inside Meow Wolf.
Cat cafés. 🐈
Exploring. Laughing. Getting lost. Finding our way back. And saying “why not?” to just about every adventure we could find.

And then, somehow, we even got a surprise visit from Grandpa, who happened to have a job in Denver for the day. ❤️

But the best part?

Watching River and my bestest friend, his Auntie Moon, bond in a way that only happens when you get to step away from everyday life and simply experience the world together.

These are the moments I hope he remembers.

The adventures.
The laughter.
The ridiculous side quests.
The early mornings.
The unexpected surprises.
The people who showed up for him.
And the feeling of being surrounded by people who love him.

We do these birthday trips as a reminder that the best gifts aren’t something you can wrap.

It’s a plane ticket.
It’s a new place.
It’s an unforgettable adventure.
And it’s time together.

Today I turn 34 💁🏼‍♀️

I’m also just starting to collect donations for @rm.equality.youth queer teen summer camp!

How do you put a lifetime of love into words for the person who helped shape your soul…

From running wild and free, to the people we’ve become, you have been my constant through every version of life. From Gatorland days to late nights, from festivals to living under the same roof, from moments we’ll laugh about forever to memories that will stay just between us… we have lived a thousand lives together.

We’ve stood side by side helping each other through things that could have broken us. Loss, pain, moments that changed us forever… and somehow, we came out still holding onto each other. That kind of bond isn’t normal. It’s once in a lifetime.

You are the first person I call, the one I fall apart to, the one who knows every side of me… even the ones I don’t show the world. You’ve seen me at my lowest and loved me anyway. I’ve seen you carry more than most people ever could, and still somehow be the light for everyone around you.

You are not just my best friend. You are my soulmate. A piece of me that lives outside my body. No distance, no time, no life changes could ever take that away from us.

There is no one else like you. There never will be.

I am thankful for every memory, every laugh, every tear, every unspoken understanding between us.
I love you in a way that doesn’t have an ending.

Join them for a night of salsa dancing, live music, cocktails and apps, as they celebrate TJP’s work with system-impacted youth ages 10-25. All funds will be used to support programs that keep young people out of detention, educate youth on their constitutional rights, support families through crisis and to build the community our youth deserve. head to @tjpcolorado and snag a ticket at the link in their b!o ✨💃🏻🎶
