POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

14 years ago I had my first day of work with Cirque. I was so new to this world. I remember there being so much excitement about a Banquine act going into the show at Viva Elvis, and I had no idea what that was.
I also knew I was hired to do an “aerial” act and genuinely thought that meant I’d be doing front or side aerials across the stage. 🤦🏻‍♀️ (tell me you’re a gymnast without telling me you’re a gymnast 😁)
I’ve learned so much about this world over the years and am so grateful for the way this work has changed my life, and for the people I’ve met through this community. Still learning, growing, and still in awe of it all.
Thank you Cirque. ❤️🎪

If we met or connected through a show, which one was it? 😊

I’ve finally shared my full act from Joya. The link is in my bio if you’d like to watch it.
And here are a few of my favorite moments, just in case you don’t make it that far. 😁

The creation of this act was a wild journey and unlike any of the other acts I’ve created at Cirque. There are so many stories behind this process that I’ll never forget. (Mostly because I journaled the heck out of it).

I also have a lot of deep and meaningful memories tied to this character. The pre-act rituals in the grid, splits and zips, post-act chats, silly scares and shoe hiding, princess walks to finale, waves from catwalk to the tramp, hugs behind the trampwall, and so many more.
There was a week when I was so sick and felt super proud to get through the act, and days when I felt incredible and basked in every second. I will never forget the one day I was so angry, which resulted in the best version of my character, I’m pretty sure. 😉

I wanted nothing more than to bring my own flavor to every second of this act and it was so fulfilling to do so.
I hope you enjoy this glimpse into a piece that was a cumulation of excitement, hardship, empowerment, headaches, and achievement.

I’ve been asked a few times recently if my spin is created by a technical aspect in the show or if I control it myself.

Because Cirque shows are so spectacular on the technical side, I understand how it may be hard for the audience to recognize which aspects are controlled by the performer.
However, these fast spins are created by the artist, which is why the spin speed may even vary slightly from show to show.

For my spin in this video, for instance, it depends on how much force I generate before the hoop lifts off the ground.

What other questions do you have about the shows?

4000 shows with Cirque du Soleil 🎪

I never knew my show count until this past March when I was asked to figure it out.

Last night was number 4,000.

Kind of a random number, but also a cool milestone. I’m grateful for what each role and show has taught me, and I’m still learning every day.

Life with @cirquedusoleil in different cities means time apart. Tonight, we’re making up for it with @stagsleapwinery. A non-negotiable for our date night. 🍷🎪 #ad #cirquedusoleil #acrobatics #couple #TakeTheLeap by @acroop

Going for a record for how many reels I can make to songs from this new Olivia Rodrigo album. 😁

Also, here’s a sequence of random things I’m not currently using in my act… but might like to 👀 (but not in this order). taken in Las Vegas, Nevada by @acroop

Thank you Auana and Oʻahu, for an incredible first 3 months. 🤍🌈
I love this show, this island, the food, the views… there are just so many amazing things to love here.

In these first few months, I got to take on Hina, celebrate my birthday, experience my first tropical storm, eat lots of poke and musubi, smell all the pretty flowers, and chase countless sunsets and beach days. 🌺🌅🌊

Just 2 more shows until we have 2 weeks off. ☺️✨ taken in Honolulu, Hawaii by @acroop

3 months since my last show as a space biker, just splish splashing and dangling above this epic stage. 🪐💦

It’s so cool to look back on it with fond memories. For me, an experience is shaped so much by the people around you… the ones who make you feel welcomed, valued, respected, and grateful to have been part of it. 🤍

And I’m super grateful to have been part of this cast and even just a small glimmer in this show’s beautiful history.

Celebrating my birthday here in Hawaii was so special. 🌺

I learned what a beautiful tradition it is to receive leis here, but never expected just how meaningful it would be to experience it myself. I was so surprised when the first one was placed around my neck, and as the night went on and I received more (hence so many photos with them 🙈), I felt more and more touched by the thought and care behind them. Especially knowing that some of them were handmade by friends. 🙌🏻 Receiving such a beautiful, thoughtful gift and having it placed on you feels so personal. I don’t even know how to best describe it.

And the scent… 😍 My place smells absolutely delightful with them hanging around.

I loved celebrating with Auana friends after the show, FaceTime-ing my honey while opening presents in bed, and hearing from so many people I love, even though I’m far from home. ❤️ All the messages and calls were such a cool reminder of the connections I’ve made over the years, across different shows and phases of my life.

I treated myself to afternoon tea, a sunset, and finally getting my Hawaii license plates. 😁

Feeling so very loved and extremely grateful for this day and for getting to be here — on earth, in Hawaii, and in this moment of my life.

Just like Olivia Rodrigo… Hina’s got expectations 😁

Imagine my response when wardrobe asked if they could add more stones to my costume. ** yes please ** ☺️
