Whitney Exped V :
Mountaineers Route Recon Mission

@captain.block and I recently got the alpine start, for another grand Whitney adventure. It being winter, we just about had the mountain to ourselves. Only price to pay was having to "swim" through 2 to 4 feet of powder on the ascent. Worth it! Made it up to 11,500 feet before sunset, and made camp.

I generally feel like I should receive visions while atop the sacred mountain, but that's rarely how it works. The revelation usually hits me after I have returned from the trek, and am safely snug in my big warm bed. That's exactly what happened here. And man, it was a good one!

Kate Mueller gifted Santa Monica with a wonderful sunset surprise. Ronin and I were delighted to find this ephemeral art installation transforming the surf for a truly epic nature show.

Kate's work is a plan view metal representation of the Pleiades constellation. And the woman is as charming and cool and humble as her sculpture.

For The Burning Man weekend, @abraminmotion and I, along with SuperDawg Ronin, elected to get a natural high... roughly 14,000 feet of it, up the #mountaineersroute of #mountwhitney . Abe had the wisdom, foresight, and excellent idea of hawling up two prime ribeye steaks, which tbh was the best steak I've ever eaten in my life... no utensils needed! A most excellent adventure. This was my first time in memory of being on set for a real feature film with a decent budget, and the experience was ELECTRIFYING.

The "action" moments were of course galvanizing... dozens of professionals focusing all their talents on and energy on brief 120 second shots, all at once...but the real value I found were the conversations in the downtimes. Such a talented group of playful creative people living their purpose, following their passions, and chasing their dreams without excuse or fear.

I entered into a portal of the unknown, and left excited and energized beyond belief.
