Bangladesh Diaries 🇧🇩 | Day 3 — Qualifying Day 🎾

Today, qualifying began, with Aariz and Shadul stepping onto the court.

Ari got off to a great start, leading 6–1, 3–1, before severe cramping made the match incredibly difficult. It was tough to watch him struggle physically. His match went all the way to the super tie-break, but the biggest takeaway for us was how important it is to manage the body and recognise when health has to come first.

Shadul had a long, high-quality match against the top seed in qualifying. It was a demanding contest that tested both his physical and mental game.

Competing internationally isn’t just about tennis. It’s about adapting to unfamiliar conditions, dealing with the humidity, adjusting to different food, managing energy and learning how to handle everything that comes with being away from home.

Some days go according to plan. Others teach you things you didn’t expect.

But at the end of the day, as coaches, our job isn’t just to help players win matches. It’s also to make sure they stay happy, enjoy what they’re doing and continue to love the game.

There will always be ups and downs. What matters is that we keep working hard, keep learning and, most importantly, keep enjoying the journey.

We still have players competing in the tournament, and we’re looking forward to another day on court.

Bangladesh Diaries 🇧🇩 | Day 2 🎾

A good day of work in Dhaka!

We started the morning with a solid 90-minute tennis session — plenty of hitting, serves, returns and repetitions. Then came the reaction drills, footwork and fitness work to keep the players sharp.

But player development isn’t just about what happens on court.

Today, the kids took over the kitchen too! 🍳 Learning to prepare healthy meals, cook for themselves and make enough to save for later is an important part of travelling and competing independently.

The evening brought another session, followed by the usual tournament waiting game — waiting for the draw! Until then, the boys found their own ways to stay entertained and keep the energy up.

Training, nutrition, independence and a little fun along the way.

Because becoming a better tennis player means learning to take care of yourself, on and off the court. 💪🎾

Bangladesh Diaries 🇧🇩 | Day 1 🎾

A long day of travel, familiar faces, new friendships and a whole lot of excitement!

From meeting up in Mumbai with players from different academies to finally landing in Bangladesh, the journey was already turning into an experience of its own.

And what better way to end Day 1 than celebrating a player’s birthday over some good Italian food! 🎂🍝

We came here for tennis, but the memories, friendships and experiences along the way are just as special.
