Some of you may remember 𝘞𝘢𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘍𝘰𝘳 𝘈𝘶𝘥𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 from SIFA 2025, or perhaps its earlier beginnings at SIFA 2024’s works-in-progress platform, 𝘛𝘰𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘰𝘸 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘛𝘰𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘰𝘸.

Join Nine Years Theatre co-founders Nelson and Mia as they reflect on a work that began at SIFA 2024, evolved into a full SIFA 2025 commission, and went on to travel from Singapore to Milan, where it received the Special Mention of the Public Jury Award – and most recently, Festival Off Avignon in France.

𝘞𝘢𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘍𝘰𝘳 𝘈𝘶𝘥𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 is proof that local theatre can resonate far beyond our shores when artists are given the space, support and opportunity to grow. Arts House Group is proud that platforms such as SIFA can help new works develop from early ideas into productions that reach audiences in Singapore and around the world.✨

This year’s festival may be over, but the SIFA team at Arts House Group is already beavering away on the 2027 edition. It’s going to be very, 𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮 special so don’t miss it! 😉

“Do we need theatre? Does theatre need us?”
La Terrasse is a French publication dedicated to the performing arts, covering theatre, dance, music and festivals through interviews, reviews and features.
Thank you La Terrasse and Mathieu Dochtermann for this thoughtful review of Waiting For Audience. The review highlights the production’s visual language, humour and sensitivity, and how its Beckett-like absurdity, clowning and physical theatre open up deeper questions about theatre and its audience.
Behind the laughter lies the question at the heart of the work: what is theatre for?

Posting to remember the 28 days we spent in Avignon Off Festival 2026, braving the heatwave and navigating with our broken French to present 19 shows of Waiting For Audience 等待观众 in Mandarin… and learning a ton.

A big thank you from the bottom of our hearts to all who have helped and supported us in so many different ways. Thank you for making this possible, and for giving Singapore work the chance to be seen and our voices to be heard. ❤️ #nineyearstheatre #九年剧场 by @actinglifewisdom_
