There is this idea that once actors get an agent, their job is done. They can just sit and wait for their agent to call.

That is NOT how it works.

When you have an agent, you should work harder. You need to build great material, get more credits and show both your agent and casting directors that you are actively building your career.

Especially if you are with a small boutique agency.

The industry is heavily dominated by the major talent agencies. When casting directors are looking for leading or major supporting roles on big projects, they often go straight to the top agencies. Boutique agencies are more likely to get opportunities when casting needs someone very specific.

And yes, there is a kind of hierarchy in the industry. Top drama schools, top agencies and established industry connections can open doors that smaller agencies simply cannot.

A small boutique agency can work for 5, 10, even 20+ years and still remain a boutique agency. And when one of their actors finally gets a big role, the bigger agencies often come knocking, because they can offer more opportunities.

So it is tough for actors. But it is also tough for small agents, many of whom are working every single day to get opportunities for you, often without being paid until you actually book.

If you're with a small boutique agency, WORK HARDER.

Your agent relies on you just as much as you rely on them.

Build your career. Create opportunities. Get material. Get credits.

Don't just sit and wait for the phone to ring. by @actingnowcreatives

A peek into L'Étoile, directed by Romain Dupuy. 🎬

Stepping into Cecile's shoes came quite naturally, as in real life I am also a dance teacher. Hopefully a little nicer one? If any of my students want to testify to that, drop a comment below! 😄

In the scene with me Clara Mesqui, as well as the dancers Lea Distefano (who was also the choreographer), Karen Marie, Margot Schaal and Auriane. Loved shooting with you girls!
