Just had a little emotional moment walking down Oxford Street this morning & passing somewhere that holds some of the greatest memories of my career.

The Sally Army @regenthallarmy is where we used to rehearse for BBC Radio 2’s Musical Series @bbcradio2 which I was very fortunate to be a part of for 4 extraordinary radio broadcast performances with some of the most amazing and talented people I have ever worked with and 4 incredible shows and roles for me – Paul in A Chorus Line with @donnamckechnie & David Soul & @carolineoconnorofficially @moorepleaseclaire Motel in Fiddler on the Roof with Anthony Newley & Sara Kestelman, Bill in Kiss Me, Kate with Julia Migenes, James Smillie @thejamessmillie and @cathporter1 and Simon in Jesus Christ Superstar with @rogerdaltreyofficialaccount @thetonyhadley @julianclarycampcomic @officialalisonjiear and @francesruffelle

I just had to pop into the hall, and Stephen, who runs the building, very kindly let me have a quiet moment.

I don’t usually look back, but today really made me realise just how lucky I’ve been to have had the career I’ve had in this funny and often crazy old world of showbiz. 😉👍🏻🤗

Recently, I came across some videos on my phone that I hadn’t realised I still had. Thank you so much @thegeorgiacurry @theicmt , for filming this. 🤗 ❤️

This was just after we came out of COVID, when I went back to teaching. My students asked me to sing something, and I hadn’t sung in a very long time. I chose this song because I’ve loved it ever since I first heard my favourite singer @barbrastreisand perform it on one of her TV specials.

I sent the video to my friend @martinlerskine today. Martin is great friends with David Shire, who wrote this beautiful song. A little while later, I received the loveliest text, followed by a voice note from David himself, saying how much he loved my voice and thanking me for singing his song in my shows. 🤗

I am honestly beyond THRILLED & HAPPY. To receive such a reaction from a true living Broadway legend is something I’ll never ever forget. ❤️

Happy Birthday, Martin! 🎂♥️ And thank you, Martin and David, for truly making my day… and my life. 🤗

Part 5. So in 1988 I was so lucky to be chosen to be part of an incredible company of 7 incredible performers comprising of Jayne Collins, Susan Daly, Clare Burt, Tim Flavin, Bogdan Kominowski & Simon Bowman for a live midweek variety show called ‘Wednesday at 8’ for Thames TV which went out live from The Victoria Palace Theatre. We had major singing stars and comedians topping the bill.. But our 20 minute medleys closed the show every week for the 6 weeks. We performed a Broadway Medley, Kander & Ebb Medley, Sondheim Medley, Irving Berlin, Jerry Herman Medley & a West End Medley. It was hosted by Jim Davidson, Directed & Produced by John Kaye Cooper, Our medleys were choreographed by the wonderful Brian Rogers ⭐️ and we backed by his incredible Dancers 🕺🏻💃🏻👯‍♂️ and we had as our Musical Director the Legendary Alyn Ainsworth. We all every week got a big solo moment as well as duets and trios (I’ll post more 😉) This gig was and is still is an absolute career highlight for me 🤗 My Mum and Dad and Sister and my dear Nanny Barr came every week to watch 🤗 ♥️ We sadly didn’t go to a 2nd series #sondheim #follies #openingmedley #1988 #soyoung @jaynecollinscdg @tim_flavin @simonbowmanmusic @peyton2949 @jimdavidsonofficial @sytslondon @sylviayoungagency @coopsjohnk @actingthroughsong taken in Victoria Palace Theatre by @actingthroughsong
