Today makes it a month that I delivered this speech as the student speaker of the 2025 Brown School Graduating Cohort @washubrownschool Thank you so much for this honor! I’ll always remember this day with immense joy and gratitude. And it will always be proof to me that I can and I will (right after I take that nap, of course 😂) by @activelifestyle.project

One whole month today, I graduated with an MPH degree. Though I I have a lot to say about the BTS of this journey, I just don’t know where to start from. But I know for sure that I’d end it with: I am just so grateful to God.

The below is what I could up with and already shared on LinkedIn. I had planned for a better story telling for Instagram but i have nothing. So for now, here you go…

The sages were right. The journey of a thousand miles does, indeed, begin with a single step.

Because how else do I explain that, despite the lingering doubts I had as I boarded that one-way flight from Abuja to St. Louis, my dream of doing a Master’s degree program in a top-ranked university has been fulfilled? How do I explain it?

Also, how do I explain that, beyond getting a Master of Public Health degree from WashU Brown School I got to experience and contribute to several other exciting things while on this graduate journey. Things such as:

- Serving as a Global Peer Mentor and Graduate Fellow, advising and programming for student wellbeing and academic success

- Receiving two regional awards (MACURH Golden Cowbell Award & Advisor Award) for outstanding leadership in residence life

- Working as a Research Assistant to Dr Tetteh, contributing to groundbreaking work on ethical frameworks for implementation research

- Interned at America Walks

- Participated in the Clark-Fox Graduate Policy Scholars Program

- Presented research posters (won some, didn’t win others, but learned from all)

- Got published for the first time

- Got featured in a local magazine for my love and passion for the work I do

- Hosted and secured sponsorship for a Silent Disco/StepCount event

- Nominated for Sigma Xi Scientific Research Honor Society membership

- Nominated and inducted into the Delta Omega Honorary Society in Public Health

- Selected as Student Speaker for 2 key occasions, one of them being the Brown School Graduation (I’ll share the recordings soon!)

As I’ve said before, I truly can’t explain how I got here. I just know that I took the first step, afraid, and somehow it led me to doors I never imagined approaching….. to be continued in the comments section by @activelifestyle.project

Lota in American part 2: The one where Nwali is her class valedictorian and overall best in achieving (you already know what they say about Nigerian women:)

I am so lucky that I could be there, in that moment in spite of all odds. So lucky to be in such a close proximity with greatness. Nwali really showed me what It means to great. Not good enough. Great!
What a woman! What an inspiration! She showed me what is possible if you put all your eggs into God’s basket!
I’m so proud to be called your sister and to stand by you.
I want you to remember days like this when you are struggling with the worries of this world. God has a funny way of showing off, I promise you. by @activelifestyle.project

Lota the Lotaaaaa! My sweet girl. The girl that can’t ever run when she’s crossing the road. Thereby annoying me, because can’t you see that we are almost missing the green light. The one that plays rough like a boy and when I try to play back she says “Nwali, why can’t you play normally”. Okay. How can I, when you don’t, yourself! The one that I know has my back 247, though she’s younger than I am.

Thank you for coming all the way to celebrate with me for my graduation. Thank you for praying over me the morning of. I stood tall and strong because you were right there beside me. Tbh, you left me no other choice because we spent the couple days prior the grad day laughing nonstop. such that nothing else mattered to me in those moments, not even the anxiety of having to do the speech on the grad day.

Till our next long-distance sister meet up, I’ll be reliving our memories together and be running down your phone battery with our video calls.

I love you sister girl ❤️ by @activelifestyle.project

2nd time is the charm 😂😂😭 by @activelifestyle.project

I have so much to say.

No 1, this is the kinds of things I did during my 10 mins break while studying/working while I was a student. As you can see, not a good use of my break.

No. 2, I can confirm that though it’s been over a month I tried this, I woke up with a painful stiff knee 2 nights ago and I knew for a fact that it was thanks to this trend.

No. 4, given that I’m technically still under 30 years, and I couldn’t get this right, I don’t know what to make of that. Am I the anomaly 🫠. Rubbish

No. 4, as I said in the reel, leave TikTok trends alone

That’s all for now.

Did you hear? I’m graduating TOMORROW!!! Like tomorrow tomorrow. Like the MPH degree that I started 2 years ago has come been concluded.

However, today, I was one of the 14 MPH grads awarded the honor of being a member of the Delta Omega Honor Society. Whew!

This is the highest honor that can be bestowed to an MPH graduate, based the grad’s academic excellence, and a demonstrated leadership inside and outside the classroom to promote public health.

God, where do I begin to thank you? by @activelifestyle.project

Hey friends, please, I need your help with something 🙏

A research project I worked on during my summer internship was accepted for the Sigma XI Student Research Showcase, and there’s an award up for grabs. It’s the People’s Choice Award. It goes to the entry with the most views, likes, and comments. Voting ends in 2 days.

And so I’m asking for your help so that I can win the award. Here’s what you have to do:
- Check out my research, like it and leave a comment. It includes an abstract, a PowerPoint, and a short video. If you don’t have time to go through everything, just watch the 2-minute video.
- You’ll need to sign up to like or comment, but it’s super quick and easy. Use your Gmail account.
- The (clickable) link to access it is in my bio and story
