33 DAYS UNTIL ELECTION

As you might be familiar, I got involved in local politics in 2014 because I found the sad state of our democracy in decay. When I tried to host the local premiere of the @pay2playtv Documentary at @smcedu @broadstage_sm after the @santamonicadailypress Squirm Night Candidate Forum as agreed with the publisher Ross Furukawa in a meeting at their office, inexplicably it was cancelled. The ad that I purchased for the event was published without my approval and I stopped the payment of the illegally requested post dated check that the editor demanded to hold the full page ad in the publication. Although he offered to run it the following week that would not have worked because it would have been too late for the elections and I would not have the access to the stage he offered to do the event. In hindsight, knowing what I know now, it was a political hit. I was naive. Didn’t know how the tentacles of the local political beast extended to every single institution in the city. Since then I’ve learned how every aspect of local decisions is influenced by donors that manipulate the system. Last week I talked with @cityofsantamonica new City Clerk about my work to do public funded elections locally. Ballot Measure Proposition 4 will bring us a step closer to resolving the crisis in our local democratic process. I invite @lananegretesm @santamonicamirror @pna90404 @ellis_raskin @jessezwick @natalya4citycouncil @councilmanbarrysnell @bluewavedemclub @santamonicaneighbors @santamonicavoice @santamonicapd POA @ashleyoelsen4santamonica @dougtrussler @johncysmith @smmidcity @friends.of.sunset.park to endorse and campaign the next 33 days to level the playing field of local elections. Find more information in my bio. #election2026 #california #santamonica #fairelections #campaignfinancereform taken in Culver City, California by @activist81

On a day where I’m already feeling proud and empowered, it was wonderful to attend today’s @dccc Ultimate Women’s Power Lunch honoring our incredible Speaker Emerita @speakerpelosi! This was a room filled with women who lead - fiercely running for Congress to hold seats, to flip seats, and take back our Democratic power. And we can never give enough accolades to Madam Pelosi for her historic barrier-busting, brave and brilliant leadership - and for serving as a stellar role model for legions of women in public service.

Thank you to the excellent men who use their power and platform as allies who lift up women. And brava to the badass feminista friends with whom I get to share this journey - and today’s event!

Let’s get these amazing leaders elected! Onward to November and beyond! 💙✊ by @activist81
