📎 August 2026 Perfume Tray - For the ladies 💋

With women’s day being celebrated this month in my country, it feels only fitting to dedicate my perfume tray to fragrances that feature the beautiful note of Orris/Iris.

Why Orris? Because it reminds me of one item I, as a woman, cannot be without: my lipstick. Most women have a favourite lipstick or shade. Just like perfume, no two are exactly the same. Lipstick is also a way to express our feminine individuality.

Join me as we spend August celebrating women through fragrance.

📎 July 2026 Perfume Tray Story review - @theodoroskalotinisperfumer Crème Brûlée

Life’s treats 🍮

One day, you realise that life is too short to focus on the negatives. We always want something more than we already have. Why not first be grateful for the little treats life has blessed us with? The colours in a sunrise and sunset, the feeling of the sun on your face. The coziness of your own home, the warmth on your skin in a hot shower, the cracking of the caramelised sugar on top of a crème brûlée.

This fragrance reminds me to be grateful for what I have, and of course, how delicious I smell when I wear it.

It opens with a burst of sweet creamy coconut milk and then it settles into the literal smell of a crème brûlée. Sweet caramelised sugar, and fluffy, creamy vanilla.

📎 July 2026 Perfume Tray Story review - @rojadoveperfumery Sweetie Aoud

Little wins 👏🏽

She sits alone, comfortable at a little table just outside a café. Black sunglasses conceal her eyes as she reads a newspaper, its pages gently ruffled by the sweet Paris air. She sets her newspaper aside when her breakfast arrives. Her deep berry-red lipstick smudges slightly as she takes a bite of a freshly baked croissant drizzled with dark chocolate. She treats herself, celebrating each and every little win. Unbothered by the noise around her, she focuses on herself and the life she is building.

Sweetie Aoud opens with a touch of dark berries. After a while, it becomes buttery and pastry-like, reminiscent of a freshly baked croissant. A hint of dark chocolate and incense joins the composition. As it develops further, the dark berries settle into an earthy oud. It is not a heavy or overly sweet fragrance. Instead, it offers a darker take on a gourmand. The incense and oud add depth and mystery, yet it manages to stay light and airy.

📎 July 2026 Perfume Tray @joussetparfums Accident À La Vanille - Madeleine de Proust

I smell like a whole tennis biscuit today. I also layered it with Blu Indaco which gave it such a beautiful feel.
Although I love this one, I don’t think I will repurchase it just because there are so many good gourmands to still get my nose on.

Madeleine de Proust reminds me of tennis biscuits fresh out of the oven in a factory. Who doesn’t want to smell like that 👌🏽.

The fragrance that reminds me of my family. Ferreros and good vibes ❤️. It smells like a beautiful tuberose flower covered in warm, melted, nutty chocolate and sprinkled with coconut.

📎 July 2026 Perfume Tray - Layered in Treats 🍰

It is chilly here in Johannesburg 🥶, and with that comes the need for layers of comfort.

Winter layers are usually made up of scarves, coats, and blankets to keep out the cold. This month, I will layer myself in sweet treats. Think gourmand cosiness 🤤. Caramelised sugar crackling on top of a crème brûlée, warm pastries and baked goods fresh out of the oven, decadent chocolate, roasted hazelnuts, you get the idea…

This month is all about fragrances that feel indulgent yet comforting. They have a way of turning a cold winter day into a moment worth savouring.
