Cosa accade quando il potere si sgretola sotto il peso della propria arroganza?
In HUBRIS, Maxine Doyle rilegge l’antico concetto greco di “hybris” – arroganza, dominio, eccesso – per dare vita a un’opera di danza e teatro che interroga le dinamiche del potere nel mondo contemporaneo.

Interpretata dalle sedici danzatrici e danzatori della #BiennaleCollegeDanza, la performance prende forma in un paesaggio essenziale composto da tavoli bianchi: una terreno austero e mutevole che evoca di volta in volta aule scolastiche, sale del banchetto, territori contesi o fragili scialuppe alla deriva.

Uno spazio di attraversamenti e trasformazioni. Un luogo in cui il potere prende forma, si esercita e, infine, viene smantellato.

Attraverso il dialogo tra corpo, spazio e luce, HUBRIS ci invita a riflettere sui sistemi che abitiamo e sulla possibilità di immaginarli diversamente.

What happens when power begins to crumble under its own weight?
In HUBRIS, @maxinedoyle1 draws on the ancient Greek notion of “hubris” – arrogance, domination, and excess – to create a dance-theatre work that questions the architecture of power in the contemporary world.

Performed by the sixteen dancers of the Biennale College Danza, the work unfolds across a landscapeof simple white boards that become classrooms, border checkpoints, banquet halls, contested territories, and fragile boats adrift at sea.

A stage of crossings and transformations. A place where power is built, challenged, and ultimately dismantled.

Through choreography, light, and space, HUBRIS invites us to reflect on the systems we inhabit – and the possibility of imagining them anew.

Avvolti nelle luci di Theresa Baumgartner e nei suoni di Yraki, sedici danzatrici e danzatori della #BiennaleCollegeDanza hanno incontrato AISOMA, uno strumento coreografico interattivo basato sul machine learning sviluppato dal Direttore Artistico della #BiennaleDanza Wayne McGregor e @googleartsculture.

Da questo incontro ha preso forma BODY AS ARCHIVE, una performance – a metà tra spettacolo e laboratorio di ricerca – attraverso cui McGregor ha esplorato nuove modalità di relazione tra corpo umano e intelligenza artificiale, aprendo a scenari inediti di creazione condivisa.

Il progetto si inserisce nel contesto della presentazione della nuova sede dell’Archivio Storico – Centro Internazionale della Ricerca sulle Arti Contemporanee all’Arsenale, luogo dedicato alla conservazione della memoria e, insieme, alla sua continua reinterpretazione.

Enveloped in @theres_a_baumgartner’s light design and @y.r.a.k.i’s soundscape, sixteen #BiennaleCollegeDanza dancers encountered AISOMA, an interactive choreographic tool based on machine learning developed by the Artistic Director of the Biennale Danza Wayne McGregor (@studiowaynemcgregor) and @googleartsculture.

From this encounter emerged BODY AS ARCHIVE, a performance – part stage work, research laboratory – through which McGregor explored new ways of relating the human body to artificial intelligence, opening up unprecedented scenarios of shared creation.

The project was presented in the context of the unveiling of the new premises of the Historical Archive – International Centre for Research on Contemporary Arts at the Arsenale, a place dedicated to the preservation of memory and, at the same time, its continual reinterpretation.

I am very exited to announce that I have joined Mathew Bourne’s New Adventures for their tour of ‘The Red Shoes’ 2026! @mbnewadventures ❤️

After a wonderful few weeks of rehearsals and absorbing the show, I am preparing for my debut in the next few days.
