Grazie @piermaran
Thank you for inviting me to discuss the #future of our #Europe.

We are living in a time where borders tremble and conflicts shape our horizon: the war in Ukraine continues to take lives, Kosovo-Serbia relationshions remain fragile, and Europe is searching for how to be a larger and safer home for all of us.

During the discussion, Maran reminded us of something essential: Europe needs a #commondefense, instead of 27 separate strategies.
And we need to #invest more in technological advancement and competitiveness, so that we do not fall behind in a world where power is increasingly defined by #innovation.

We were also joined by @brandobenifei who emphasized the strategic role of Artificial Intelligence in Europe’s security and governance. AI is not just a tool, it is shaping how we protect our democracies, manage crises, and imagine the future of cooperation.

So we must ask ourselves:
What role do we want Europe to play in the years ahead?
Will we act with unity and vision or allow others to decide for us?

Crises are not only challenges, they are mirrors.
They show us who we are, and who we still need to become.
Today, more than ever, we need courage, clarity and a shared commitment to peace and responsibility. 🇪🇺

🇪🇺 I had the pleasure of discussing with @sebastian.everding, German MEP @europeanparliament working with @theleft_eu — Vice-Chair of the EU-Albania Stabilisation and Association Parliamentary Committee and member of ENVI, the Committee on Environment, Climate and Food Safety.

Together with other NGOs currently active in Albania, I had the opportunity to listen, share, and reflect on the catastrophic conditions of stray dogs in the country.

As a political scientist and someone personally engaged in politics, it breaks my heart to say that this is the painful reality.
In just the last three weeks, I have neutered more dogs than I can even remember — and this happened in a very small city.

Through my ethnographic research, interviews with locals, NGOs, and local officials, it’s clear that the challenges are systemic and urgent:

🔴 Budget reallocation and better control of how funds are used
🔴 Reliable data, transparency, and monitoring for a national strategy
🔴 Education and training of specialists to meet EU standards
🔴 Stronger cooperation between local governments and NGOs
🔴 Networks to share best practices
🔴 EU institutional support in this difficult and painful battle
🔴 Regional cooperation across the Balkans — because animals move beyond borders

These animals desperately need EU and Albanian protection.
Their suffering is not invisible and it’s time to act now. 🐾💔

Protests in Tirana, Albania, have been continuing relentlessly for over 4 months!

This time, students have taken to the streets in protest, and they seem determined not to back down.

The state of education in Albania is appalling. From classrooms and school facilities to scholarships and educational funding, the story is always the same: millions in public funds disappear while conditions for students become increasingly unbearable.

And instead of opening a dialogue, both with students and the wider public, the government responds to the student uprising with brutal police force.

The footage shows deeply disturbing scenes:

One young man is brutally assaulted by more than six police officers, leaving him covered in blood.

Another young man is severely beaten by police officers until he loses consciousness, suffering a broken leg. There are reports that he may permanently lose the use of that leg.

A minor is slapped, verbally abused, and threatened by police officers, who order him to go home.

Another protester is repeatedly kicked and beaten until he loses consciousness and collapses.

And when journalists from local news outlets arrive to do their jobs and document what is happening, they are obstructed and prevented from reporting on the events unfolding before them.

Freedom of the press, the right to peaceful protest, and freedom of expression are fundamental pillars of any mature democracy. These are not optional values. They are essential rights that must be respected and protected, especially by a country aspiring to join the European Union!!

When 🇫🇷 citizens protest,
the whole country shakes
and the governments tremble.

If you think this is
 just a student demonstration,
well think again!

Why are people on the streets?

💔A shortage of teachers

💔Overcrowded classrooms

💔Deteriorating school buildings

💔Growing pressure surrounding university admissions.

💔Public-sector wages frozen for the fourth consecutive year, while inflation continues to rise.

💔Increasing fiscal pressure and public debt, reportedly rising from 79.2 billion to 91.2 billion, with debt-related costs absorbing resources that could otherwise be spent on public services.

💔Opposition to an additional €6.4 billion in defence spending.

Students have been joined by teachers, public-sector workers, healthcare professionals and firefighters and, on October 6, several trade unions also joined the mobilization.

PS: this is the second massive protest that Macron has to deal with. Stay tuned!!

It seems that October is going to be the month of the EU revolution 2026.

#DIASPORA 🇦🇱 📍🇩🇪

As a Political Scientist,I study politics ;
not only to understand institutions, power, and decisions, but also to turn complexity into something people can actually connect with.

Because knowledge shouldn’t stay locked inside universities, books, or political circles.
It should reach people.

So here I am, questioning, explaining and bringing more knowledge to the People, one story at a time.

The Prime Minister @sanchezcastejon has announced new elections in #spain.
But WHY?

In recent weeks, Spanish residents have demanded solutions from the government over housing affordability,
holding #protests in cities across the country.

All started with the eviction of an 87-year-old woman from
her home last month after she was unable to afford a sharp rent increase. The new rent costs €1,650 (starting from 500) but Maricarmen was still unable to pay it with her monthly pension of €1,350.

For weeks, tens of thousands of people have protested across Spain calling for greater protections for tenants
after the government failed to pass emergency housing legislation.

🗓️A general (snap) election
will be held in Spain
on 29 November 2026

🇦🇱 100 DAYS OF PROTEST IN ALBANIA: FROM ZVËRNEC TO A WIDER FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION AND INJUSTICE

One hundred days have passed since the protests began in Albania.
What started as a movement to defend a protected natural area has gradually become something much bigger: a public protest against corruption, lack of transparency, social inequality, and a model of development that, according to protesters, benefits a privileged few while ordinary citizens are left behind.

I thought long and before raising my voice on this issue.
But there is no more honorable cause to speak loud about ingiustice.
My father left Albania many, many years ago.
He was driven away by corruption.
He wanted his children to grow up in a culture where human rights are respected, rights that Albanians are still fighting for today. Every day.
I grew up in Italy and served the Italian and European institutions.
Today, I too share this struggle and fight for it every day.
That is what I trained for, and today I am a political scientist.
And that's why I am here and it's an honor to be part of this revolution.

🦩7th September, 100 DAYS LATER, THE FLAMINGO HAS BECOME SOMETHING MORE
It no longer represents only the protection of a lagoon.
It has become a symbol for citizens demanding that the law apply equally to everyone, that Albania’s natural heritage not be sacrificed without transparency, that institutions answer to the people, and that economic development should not mean enrichment for a few while thousands of young people feel forced to leave their country.

⚖️ CORRUPTION AND MISTRUST IN THE INSTITUTIONS
The protests quickly moved beyond the issue of Zvërnec.
The demonstrations have enfasiced more problems affecting Albanian society: corruption, the rule of law, institutional transparency, alleged links between political and economic- oligarchs interests, youth emigration, social inequality, and the concentration of the benefits of economic growth in the hands of a limited part of society.

🇦🇱 100 days of protest are 100 days in which part of Albanian society has decided to demand accountability from those in power.

🏠 HOUSING CRISIS: IS IT JUST A SPANISH PROBLEM?

🇪🇺House prices are rising. Rents are increasing. And for many young Europeans, living independently or buying a home is becoming increasingly difficult.

Over the past decade, housing affordability has become a growing challenge across Europe, affecting not only individuals and families, but also businesses, workers and public services.

When people can no longer afford to live where they work, housing stops being just a personal issue. It becomes an economic and #social problem.

💬 Do you think owning a home is still a realistic goal for our generation?
