Twinkle Burke (top L) Maya Gonzalez (Top R) Stephanie Anuwe (bottom L) and Jojo Gonzalez (bottom R) will be reading 2 plays from the Climate Change Theatre Action collection @soon_isnow on Saturday, Oct 5th at Scenic Hudson's Long Dock Park. Every year, we choose plays from this collection to read at our festival.

The Eternity of Diapers, by Carla Zúñiga
A dirty diaper takes 500 years to decompose. We are going to get back all the damage we have done to the planet. There needs to be a radical change to create a new way of life.

This play takes place in Chile and references the Mapocho River which flows from the Andes Mountains into Santiago. Long polluted with household, agricultural and industrial sewage, and copper-mining waste; it is also the site of human rights abuses during the dictatorship of Pinochet.

Now, by Wren Brian
From the playwright’s notes:
I’m not a particularly optimistic person, I try to be a realist, but more often than not dip into pessimism (and sometimes even have a good long swim in it). The truth is it takes more energy, imagination, and strength to imagine better, but we need to. As hard as it is, we need to dare to dream.

We are excited to have Twinkle, Stephanie and Jojo returning to Soon is Now and we welcome Maya who is joining us for the first time. These actors hold extensive credits in theater, television and film. Too many to list in this post! Come out and see them by signing up for a performance tour at the park at either 2pm/2:30pm and 3pm.

*** SOON IS NOW is SATURDAY, OCT 5th from 1pm – 4:30pm
*1pm & 2pm Amy White Eyes is offering 30 minute meditative mugwort walks and tea tastings
*2pm/2:30pm/3pm sign up to take a walking tour and see all of the performances in the park.
*Visit the exhibition in the River Center open all day
*Bring your kids and engage with an art project using biochar with DIA educator T. Charnan Lewis.
*meet with environmental groups: Beacon Climate Action Now, Riverkeeper, Mothers Out Front and Scenic Hudson.
*Free and open to the public. Parking at Long Dock Park and at the Beacon Metro North Train Station. #climatechange @artsnclimate @datwinksta @mayabehere @adaeze369 @kc2nbe taken in Scenic Hudson's Long Dock Park by @adaeze369
