Outro section from ‘You Got Me’ by @theroots . The whole tune is amazing but after the final chorus @questlove rips into some of the best drum breaks you’ll ever hear.

I transcribed this years ago and have been revisiting it recently. Every two bar phrase is pure gold for d&b vocab. The hardest challenge is to float and not have any tension while playing it. I had to look to the camera while playing this to make sure my technique was solid 😂

If any one wants the full transcription DM me and I’ll send it through. Last 4 bars are me just riffing though 😏

Thought I’d give you guys a nice mix to make up for the video angle of my ass and a corona.

OAM’s Blues by @adam_tobeck

I was lucky enough to spend five days in the studio last week 😁 I’ve done hundreds of sessions over the years but every now and then I have to stop and remind myself how lucky I am to do this.

My favorite drummer growing up was @joshfreese and I have always been fascinated by session musicians. The idea that someone could be so good at their craft that artists would trust them to help bring their music to life. I used to think that would be so cool to do.

Sometimes I get so focused on what’s next, what I haven’t achieved yet, or where I want to be that I forget to acknowledge where I am right now. Last week was a good reminder that I’m already doing something I dreamed about when I was younger, and for that I’m incredibly grateful.

I’ve put together a playlist of tracks I’ve played on(link in bio) if anyone is keen on checking it out, still a lot more tracks to be added. Thank you to everybody that has had me on their recordings, it’s very special for me!

And of course get in touch if you need some drums recorded, I’m always keen and have very flexible rates! 😅

Poinciana drum solo/outro with Matt Penman & Aaron Goldberg - 13.2.25

Still can’t quite believe I got to share the stage with two of my biggest inspirations.
Aaron and Matt were so welcoming and gracious, and made me feel completely at ease to just be myself.
So grateful for the opportunity — a night I’ll never forget.

Will post a few more clips of this gig over the next few weeks 😊

If you made it to the end I appreciate you x
