I’ve slowly started going through photos and videos from my big summer adventure, although it’s hard to believe it was actually summer when I shot this. My hands and feet were freezing cold, my body shivered as soon as I stopped for more than a minute, and I could carry food normally reserved for the fridge without problems. Again, going through the videos, I feel weirdly detached from the experience, almost as if looking at someone else’s trip. Either I was so locked in or life just moves on that quickly. For anyone who’s done something similar: did you feel this way too? by @adamisaway

3 weeks have passed since I crossed the finish line in Tarifa. The body has healed up, but scars and tan lines remain. My mind keeps drifting back to the quiet times like these as I’m settling back into work. During the toughest days on the bike ride (of which there were many), I never thought I’d ever think about doing anything like this again, but it’s funny how quickly you start to forget the hardest moments and start thinking “hmm… what’s next?” To anyone who’s worried, don’t be, I have no plans yet. by @adamisaway

So, I cycled across an entire continent. Almost 7000km from the northern to the southernmost point of Europe. What a ride… taken in Tarifa - Southest Point Of Europe by @adamisaway

Shot on 70mm IMAX. Fun fact: Odysseus journey from Troy back to Ithaca was 1,040km and took him 10 years. If all goes according to plan these last few days, I’ll have covered 7,000km in like 60 days. What a loser! by @adamisaway

Yesterday I arrived in front of the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela and can now officially call myself a peregrino (not that I will). I’ve been following the Camino del Norte trail for the past 828km and it’s definitely been one of the highlights so far. The food, landscape, climate, roads, and culture. There’s lots to love. ”Only” 1300km left until the end of this journey. by @adamisaway

After going inland for thousands of kilometers, riding along the coast and seaside towns were truly liberating. by @adamisaway

Starting in Irun on the French/Spanish border, I started following the Camino del Norte, which by many (according to what I’ve read online) is considered the most beautiful of the Camino de Santiago variations. The first two days on the trail, I stayed in Albergues (pilgrim hostels) but was happy to pitch the tent again last night, overlooking this beautiful coastline. Although physically very demanding, this part of the trip is already turning into one of my favorites. by @adamisaway

It just looks and is better with two bikes. I just published a bunch more travel diaries on adamisaway.com for anyone interested in what it’s like on the road by @adamisaway

If you’re thinking about going bikepacking but don’t have much experience (or honestly, even if you do), I’d highly recommend Denmark in late June. The roads are pretty flat, the food is great, the bike paths beautiful, and water clean. I’m currently 4500km+ in but the days of riding through Denmark are easily among the highlights. by @adamisaway
