@ottoresource is proud to have led the design and production of @grocerycopenhagen’s first-ever ready-to-wear collection, “cAsual busineSS”.

Together with long-time partner and friend @francescomoggi, we set out to create a collection that reflected Grocery’s trademark wit—equal parts cheeky, ironic, and casually irreverent.

If you know the team, you know nothing is ever too serious. The name itself was actually born en route to a restaurant in Milan with a “business casual” dress code. The absurdity of this in relation to us made us burst out laughing—looking around the car and realizing that what we were all wearing, far more casual than business, perfectly embodied what the collection needed to be.

In that spirit, the clothes are anything but boring. Despite their deeply referential nature, the collection avoids plain colors and predictable cuts—reframing what an “in-house” collection from a multi-brand store can be. The result? Vibrant, daring pieces that actively challenge the aesthetic tropes Scandinavia is often reduced to.

And while “reinterpreting tradition” has become a tired phrase in fashion press kits, here it genuinely applies. Archival mechanics’ uniforms are refined into sporty silhouettes and knitted polos nod to Denmark’s naval past, all held together with a functional, energetic undertone.

The color palette deserves its own mention too. Carefully chosen to recast familiar shapes with a playful perspective, it gave us the chance to revive the kinds of products that have stayed in our memory after years spent studying collections, visiting showrooms, and handling garments up close.

Whether it’s the whimsical spirit you’ll notice when worn, or the bright tones that make you stop scrolling for a brief moment, that spark of excitement is what defines this collection. Not “new”—because really, what is new anymore?—but exciting. And exciting, we can certainly do!

Thank you @n.vig.c, @lukassikjaer, and @jacob.warming for your unwavering trust, and for always being the first to believe in the ability of Otto Resource.

“cAsual busineSS” launches tomorrow, October 1, 2025, in-store at Grocery:

Variation 12 of the OR-PL04.24 Research Series Jacket examines the intersection of preservation and embellishment, uniting Japanese mud-dyed denim, high-contrast technical nylon, and modular jewelry into a cohesive, narrative-rich garment system.

The jacket’s shell is constructed from 13.9oz indigo selvedge denim sourced through @salou_inc, woven in Okayama and overdyed using doro-zome, a traditional mud-dyeing technique from Amami Ōshima. An electric blue nylon liner from @limonta1893 provides striking contrast, while a set of nine one-of-one brooches—created in collaboration with Danish jewelry designer @wettemille and Irish artist @alexanyaegbunam (Huey Ruckus)—transforms each piece into a wearable study of intentional disruption.

Since university, Joseph Beuys has occupied a central position in my thinking about how an artist’s biography, myth, and material practice can merge into a singular, all-encompassing form.

His “Felt Suit” (1970) remains a key gesture of this: clothing recast as sculpture, insulation transformed into historical residue and symbolic protection. For the second edition of “Function Complex” — soon to be announced alongside a list of incredible collaborators — I wanted to offer my own, hopefully respectful take on this work and test how the notion of “style” shifts when the body becomes a site for both practical use and conceptual storytelling.

While researching Beuys further, I came across Andy Warhol’s 1980 portrait series, which captured him as both individual and icon — translating his self-fashioned persona into a reproducible pop image and revealing how mediation and myth-making converge to shape artistic legacy.

“Function Complex” is, in part, our collective attempt to inhabit that tension — where garment, portrait, and constructed myth intersect as a critical, wearable form.

This coming week, we will begin sharing the outcomes of our recent industry collaborations, outlining a new and exciting trajectory for @ottoresource.

The image above, captured by @lukassikjaer during a trip to Italy earlier this year, highlights the beautiful, yet often overlooked corners of contemporary textile facilities.

Variation 11 of the OR-PL04.24 Research Series Jacket unites the weight of denim, the loft of fleece, and the signaling potency of pop-inflected hues into a cohesive, referential garment system.

The jacket’s shell is crafted from 13.9oz denim sourced through @salou_inc, woven in Okayama—a region renowned for its deep-rooted denim manufacturing heritage. The textile exhibits a refined density and natural slub, both hallmarks of high-grade Japanese denim, and comes with a removable vest liner in Japanese wool boa fleece.

Through this synthesis of archival form and contemporary design language, we continue to advance our central investigation: how garments operate as interfaces of memory, mobility, and material evolution.

Featured in our latest post on Variation 10 of the OR-PL04.24 Research Series Jacket is a beautiful woodblock print by Japanese ukiyo-e artist Katsushika Hokusai, from the series “Fugaku Sanjūrokkei”—known in English as “Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji”. Created between 1830 and 1832, when Hokusai was in his seventies, the series depicts the mountain from various locations, seasons, and weather conditions.

Ukiyo-e is a genre of Japanese art that flourished during the Edo period—the same era in which doro-zome, a traditional mud-dyeing technique from Amami Ōshima, emerged. This method, used to dye the yarns for Ōshima Tsumugi (a finely woven kimono textile), was also employed in the production of the jacket’s shell.

A special thank you goes out to Hiroki-san at @salou_inc for providing the textile and coordinating with his facilities to help bring this unique jacket to life.

Back in March, we delved into the cultural significance and symbolic textile narratives behind Variation 06 of our OR-PL04.24 Research Series Jacket.

We explored references ranging from Nick Love’s “The Football Factory” to the evolution of British casual culture and football hooliganism, tracing how patterns like Aquascutum’s Club Check and Burberry’s Nova Check migrated from aristocracy to the working class wardrobe.

Among the many compelling images, this particular lock-up—extracted from the base of an old Aquascutum print ad—stood out. It evokes a visual language later echoed by collectives such as Bernadette Corporation, where heritage aesthetics collapse into postmodern gesture.

Head over to @ottoresource for the full story.

Variation 10 of the OR-PL04.24 Research Series Jacket explores the “Emergent Form” of garments through Japanese and Italian textile innovation, grounding contemporary design in processes of visible transformation.

The jacket’s shell is a Japanese washi cotton twill sourced from @salou_inc, garment-dyed using doro-zome—a traditional mud-dyeing technique from Amami Ōshima that creates irregular, organic variation. Paired with a translucent, waxy nylon liner from @limonta1893, the jacket’s layered structure is designed to become an imprint of use—registering climate, movement, and care.
