NBA Season is in Full Swing!

We had the opportunity to work with to @the_cole.anthony and his team this summer at the Playbook.

Some of the best HS players from around the country come to a world class 2 Day event in which they were taught

1. Financial literacy
2. How to navigate the youth sports landscape
3. Health and performance

Most importantly - compete!

It’s our responsibility to teach our youth the right way by proving them with the best resources in the world.

We at Varsity House appreciate the opportunity and look forward to seeing Cole Anthony having a great season with the Bucks. taken in Varsity House Gym by @adammenner

Sahil Bloom x Varsity House / Business of Strength Community.

In the northeast, we move fast.

We’re focused on getting things done, accomplishing big goals, and having the materials to show for it.

At VH & BOS - we have busy parents, high performers, and entrepreneurs alike.

More importantly, we have a community of like-minded individuals who share the same core values.

Values that go against the grain.

Values centered on serving others, being humble, hungry, and on a mission of being one of the best communities in all of fitness.

Sahil fits these values and more.

We are extremely grateful for the opportunity to have Sahil speak to our community.

To next time brother!

48 hours with some of the best in the industry.

This past week I was @jesseitzler Summer Mastermind.

As you all may know, we run a private consulting group for gym owners called @businessofstrength

It’s our mission to help gym owners build their businesses, provide real long term careers for coaches, and impact the lives of families, athletes, and high performers who train at their gyms.

I truly believe you can’t give what you don’t have.

I wanted to immerse myself with individuals who are much smarter, fitter, and better than me.

From Jesse, his team, and all the individuals that’s attended - it was an unreal experience.

The stories I heard, lessons I learned, and people I met I will carry into our communities at both Varsity House x Business of Strength.

Here are the 8 most insightful

Lesson 1 Create a Seat at the Table
- Lead with value, be relentless, and don’t take no for an answer.

Lesson 2 Health is either an Asset or Liability
- If you’re a business owner, high performer, busy mom or dad - you can’t take care of others if you don’t take care of yourself first.

Lesson 3 Yes, and
- be “life ready” whatever it is always be available for the challenge.

Lesson 4 Build a Life Resume
- The ladder of success is stressful. The goal post always moves. Something you have 100% control over? Your life. Build the life you want first.

Lesson 5 Sorry, Be More Interesting
- If you want bigger opportunities you have to attract them. Do hard things. Build cool things. Be yourself. You attract what you contribute.

Lesson 6 Money Won’t Solve Your Problems
- Once your basic needs are met and you can live a little, money won’t solve your problems. Redirect your focus towards purpose.

Lesson 7 Community
- Community is the essence of life. Your friends, family, businesses, inner circles. Create a community that shares common values. Do outlandish things together, spend a little more than you should. Create memorable moments.

Lesson 8 C.E.O (Chief Energy Officer)
- Leaders lead with energy. Energy you bring to sessions, meetings, seminars, and every room. Energy attracts.

Thankful for this opportunity. More excited to keep the momentum. taken in New York, New York by @adammenner

Small misses are how average coaches lose.

The requirements of your gym’s goals only go in one direction - up.

When small misses compound the gap gets bigger.

The gap between your current skill level and what the gym’s goals require.

Eventually, the gap gets too big and you weed yourself out.

I challenge you (if you’re a gym owner or manager)…

Where are you tolerating the small misses? by @adammenner

Business of Strength Retreat 4.0 Park City Utah.

This one was special.

Every year we host the “Super Bowl” of gym business events.

When we decided that we were going to go to Park City…I had to make it special.

It was the 20 year anniversary of @varsityhouse

I had to pick one of the hardest treks in the country.

We raised money for a family friend in need. (Thank you to those who donated).

We brought our entire team and shut all 3 gyms down.

————————————————————————

Kings Peak, 15,000 feet above sea level.
30 miles, lighting, thunder, tough terrain, 12 hours, 8,000 calories burned, 50,000 steps.

Joe and Dan - we presented an award. 20 years of excellence.

The Business of Strength Gold Standard Retreat. Why great service, selflessness, coaching, and community will always win.

Very grateful this is my life.

This is Year 4 of Speaking, Training, and Testing @djsackmann @hoopstudy Summer Camps.

This is the best youth basketball camp in America.

Young athletes from around the world flying in for 4 days to take ownership of their skills, mindset, and health.

MOST importantly getting the parents and the kids on the same page.

Here is what I presented:

The stats are low, 3.4% of high school athletes will play D1, D2, or D3.

Basketball is a hard endeavor.

Basketball, however is the vehicle for which you build your beliefs, character and skills.

The #1 asset we have in this life is our health.
The second is the ability to think for ourselves.

The youth health (mental and physical) stats are alarming:
1. 50% of kids between 10-18 are obese
2. 8-16 year olds spend 4 hours a day on social media
3. 25% of young girls between 10-16 experience mental health
4. 80% of adolescents don’t meet the the fitness guidelines (International Youth Health Organization)

Because of this health decline it makes the pursuit even harder.

However, improving the odds both in your health and basketball are in YOUR control.

It starts with these 3 Actions:

1. Beliefs: Who do you want to become?
2. Behaviors: How would this person behave?
3. Habits: What’s the deadline for you going to adhere to?

Confidence comes from proof. Proof comes from your past beliefs, behaviors, and habits.

To accelerate these 3 actions you must act on a 4th…and that is getting around others who share the similar beliefs, values, goals, and behaviors.

This is why @varsityhouse we build relationships and serve alongside other amazing individuals like DJ, to make a difference in our youth, our future. by @adammenner

Before you fire an underperforming coach, ask five questions.

Underperformance is not always a character problem.

Sometimes the standard was never clear. Sometimes the coach lacks skill. Sometimes they have stopped caring. Sometimes something outside the gym is affecting their work.

Those situations look similar on the floor, but they require different responses.

Ask:
1. Do you understand exactly what is expected of you?
2. What is stopping you from meeting the standard?
3. Is this a skill problem, an effort problem, or a clarity problem?
4. What support or training would help you improve?
5. What will you commit to changing—and by when?

A) You cannot hold someone accountable to a standard you never made clear.
B) A skill gap can be coached. A lack of effort requires a different conversation.
C) Coaches often see obstacles that leaders miss.
D) Specific commitments are easier to measure than vague promises.
E) A deadline turns a conversation into a plan.
F) The coach’s answers reveal whether they want help or want an excuse.
G) Direct conversations protect the team from long-term resentment.
H) Good leaders seek the truth before making a decision.

The goal isn’t to avoid hard decisions. The goal is to make the right decision with clear evidence. Save these five questions for your next coaching conversation. by @adammenner

I’m still in the game.

But the stakes are higher now.

For years, most people knew me for speed, strength, and basketball training. I shared drills, workouts, and coaching ideas because that was the season I was in.

I’m still a coach. I still train. I still believe the weight room can change a person’s life.

But today, I’m also responsible for building the business behind the training.

That means developing coaches. Creating systems. Managing multiple gyms. Protecting the member experience. Growing leaders. Building a company that can serve people without depending on one person to hold it together.

The content is changing because my responsibilities have changed.

Here’s why I’m going to keep talking about both coaching and business:
A) Great training means little if the business can’t keep its doors open.
B) A growing gym needs more than one great coach. It needs a team that can deliver the standard.
C) Coaches deserve a career path—not just more sessions.
D) Better systems create a better experience for members.
E) Strong businesses give coaches the time, tools, and support to improve.
F) how to educate your members more about health and performance
G) You shouldn’t have to choose between being a great coach and becoming a great leader.

I’m not leaving training behind.

I’m showing what it takes to build something bigger with it.

If you’re a young coach or gym owner who wants to learn more - we have a ton of free content coming.

When you serve, the scorecard will follow. by @adammenner
